Marks on my carbon fibre hood

Hey, does anyone know how to clean those marks that appear as dry water stains on your carbon fibre hood.....but they don't disappear after waxing the hood with a buffer. My hood doesn't look as good looking as before, after waxing it, some areas are like shining and look new, while other areas have these "dry water marks that don't disappear" look on it.

Re: Marks on my carbon fibre hood

Iv had two carbon hoods the first one the gel coat or whatever they use on them was breaking down so i sanded it and cleared it and it was good as new again and my second hood started to do the same and it turneed out good to but their were small pin holes in it im guessing from the clear goin thro the pores of the weave but you had to look at it real hard to see it. But that how i got rid of mine lol thats the only thing i know. Hope it helps alittle.

Re: Marks on my carbon fibre hood

I have the invador VIS hood, and i get water marks but then i just wash them? Mine was previously GEL coated aswell, then i switched it over and had it fully cleared. I did however have some spots last week that when i washed the car wouldnt come out, and they looked like water spots , BUT they just evporated or something, because theyre gone now?

Re: Marks on my carbon fibre hood

not trying to hijack the thread sorry but the clear coat on my cf hood is cracked and faded and i just dont really trust any of the places around here to redo it for me I know I can sand it down myself but as far as reappling another clear coat..do you have to have a spray gun, could it be brushed? or would that just turn out crappy looking? any idea where to buy the clear coat?
