Removing Tailights (4th Gen)

i just bought a pair of new altezza tailights for my 4th gen and i went out to try and replace them and it was harder then i thought. Of course i've never done it before but i didn't have enough time today to do it but is there any real easy way to take them off? Like pop them off or do you have to go through the truck and take everything off?

Re: Removing Tailights (4th Gen)

It's a while since I've been in the trunk of a 4g, but from previous time spent in ther just remove the carpet (push-pins) and there's 4x10mm nuts and one wiring connector plug.

Re: Removing Tailights (4th Gen)

Ya its really simple. Use a 10mm deep well socket to get the nut off. Then what I did was from inside the trunk I pushed outward to "break" the seal of the light. Its gonna be kinda stuck on there bc of that little rubber gasket that keeps the water out. Then ub plug it n swap em out. Should only take about 10 min.

I will take a look at the trunk of a 95 and match up what i can to the trunk of a 93, and post a step by step if theres no differences.

I just installed a sick set on my 93 less than 3 days ago, and it took about 15 minutes to change out the first one, and about 7 minutes to change the other one (including cleaning the dirt and removing trim and reinstalling trim.

For my first mod to the car it only took me roughly 30 minutes and absolutely NO stress!

I would say be cautious to what you do as well. It's an easy swap but theres a post on a swap where a guy wound up with a brake light fault afterwards.

Let me get this straight...

You know a "post" where a guy's tail lights became faulty after cleaning them?

I can't see any instance where swapping out tail lights would cause any kind of fault unless you straight up cut a wire. I've swapped out my tails probably over 10 times with 4 different sets of tail lights and never had one issue with them.

Just my personal experience though.
