Re: Watermarks on window...

get some fine to medium steel wool and go to town on it. if fine doesn't work, work your way up. and use some glass cleaner too. it helps to get some quality glass cleaner like invisible glass. depends on how bad they are, invisible glass can do it without the steel wool

Wouldn't steel wool scratch it?

Re: Watermarks on window...

nope certainly not. ever heard of the mohs scale of mineral hardness? IIRC steel is like a 4. glass is like 6.5. the higher the number the harder the substance is. for example, diamonds are a 10. and the only thing that can cut a diamond is another diamond... or a nanocrystalline diamond

Re: Watermarks on window...

I've got away with just using body polish with similar water spot issues. But I always use glass polish now.

You sir need to take a look at my rear windshield the next time we hang. Fo real...I have some (fairly) bad scratches in my rear glass. Caused from some dumbass using a dirty cloth to dry my windows. (although I admit it may have been me when I was a bit more careless about drying towels...but I noticed the scratches not too long after purchasing the car...so I still can't remember if they were there or if my dumbass put them there....)

looks like I'm going to be going to town on my windows here soon. Glass/body polish and some steel wool...check. lol

Edit: what brand of glass polish do you use C?

Yeah what kind of glass polish did you use? I shouldve done a DIY on water spots. Oh well too late.

gracias. i would never steer a fellow luder wrong. listen to me and you'll go far.

oh and might i add, invisible glass will also help prevent future water spots. it works similarly to the rain-x crap. but lasts for-****in-ever. i did my front window about 8 or 10 months ago. haven't had to redo it yet. i had to do rain-x every month or 2. and i almost never have to use my wipers with invisible glass. especially at night. i just replaced my wipers 2 weeks ago and i honestly don't even remember when the last time i had to buy new wipers. its been over a year i'm sure.

Even a clean and polished vehicle does not really sparkle until you clean the windows. Traditionally one of the least favoured valeting tasks, windscreens and windows are easy to clean with Autoglym Car Glass Polish.

It contains specialist cleaning and polishing elements which quickly and easily remove all common contaminants, leaving a crystal clear, smear free finish. Use inside and out.

Many domestic glass cleaners contain wax and silicone for cosmetic effect but may cause dangerous smearing in wet weather if used on your windscreen.

If you have acrylic or plastic windows use Autoglym Fast Glass which is formulated for use on these surfaces.
