Re: has anybody attemped this ???

Spray paint is never good idea first of all lol Vinyl will look like carbon fiber but wont... It wont have the depth or anything but is 100% doable. I was even looking at doing it for a lil while wit my Galant but never got around to it. It will cost about 800 to do it tho if everything is done right. You will need to lay it down the vinyl and put a clear over it. Go to a good viyl shop and pay top dollar for the vinly they use. Have them lay it on and then go to a body shop and have them clear over it. The clear makes it so it dosnt fade as fast and peel at all.

Re: has anybody attemped this ???

Just go to a decal shop, have them measure out the size of your roof, and either pay for the material yourself, or have them do it. There's a shop around me where you can get a vinyl that looks exactly like carbon fiber and lay it over anything, including a hood. It looks like a real CF too, I've seen it done. Not my thing though... dunno if you wanna go that route... but of course they have black too.

no wrinkles would be easy. you just have to remember to start at one end and finish at the other. dont lay it all down at the same time

I would go with paint to but again i have everythign you need for DA'S to $800 spray guns. Ive seen 100's of spray can jobs and none of them turn out. If you want to paint your going have to get other things then a spray cans. If you ever sand anything screw wet sander its a pain, just use sand paper. If you want it painted, sand it down with 800 grit and make sure its flat and what not. Take it to a body shop and let them do the rest. Hell if you lived close to wisconsin i would do it all for like $50 but yeaaa you dont. Good luck

Sorry screw the wet part. Its pointless as far as i see it... Didnt mean to come off like an asshole but i mean i dont think this guy will be using spray guns and what not to do the job. If he is useing vinyl it wont match the rest of his paint and the spray can job wouldnt either. Why is he looking to mess with the roof anyway? Is the paint peeling or something?

ya its no prob bro. sorry for being a dick back. he has a carbon fiber hood and trunk already. so he wants to do something with the roof. im pretty sure someone else mentioned carbon fiber looking vinyl before. but i think it will look pretty cool once he blacks out the roof

mhmmm probably. my friend works at a shop and they charge $200 a panel to paint. he could prep it himself and save a lot, then he could even have the shop buff it for a little more. add supplies and all that sh!t. i dunno. its his money lol
