Tires and Rims
Hi, I am new to autocross and I was wondering if I can participate in stock class if I have an aftermarket rims and low profile tires, the height of the tire is 17" and its wide. I bought the car with it and I do not want to spend alot of money buying new rims when i can use that same money for stiffer springs and swaybar. I also want to know, can you have a roll bar? (my car is 91 prelude automatic, I want to gain experience first then convert to manual)

Re: Tires and Rims
NOPE, and front only.
Stock rules states that you have to have factory diameter and width, so 14 or 15 in your case. The offset has to be with in +-.25inches The front sway bar can be removed, or changed as well as the bushings that attach it. No modifications can be made for the rear bar. Springs must be factory and be with in factory ride height limits. Shocks may be modified and can't have more than 2 adjustments. Roll cages are allowed in stock class. Looks like you'll be in Street Touring, A.K.A. ST Full SCCA rule book can be found here... http://www.scca.com/documents/2011%2...lo%20Rules.pdf

Re: Tires and Rims
One caveat -- this is all true if you're running with an SCCA region. You don't say where you are, or who you're running with, so it's impossible to tell, but preparation rules vary across SCCA, NASA, a couple of different Canadian sanctioning bodies, and a host of independent clubs.
At this stage, don't worry about modifying the car any, especially since you're handicapped with an automatic transmission. Pile up some seat time, get some experienced folks to help you out, and see where that all takes you...after a year, you'll have a better idea of where you want to go with the car.
