Type SH Photos

Today I made some photos of the 1997 Prelude I test drove late Friday afternoon. Here is the link to the original thread about this car.

http://preludezone.com/showthread.php?t=9217

The quality of the interior photos I took was poor since I was making them throught the glass.

What do you think?

No, I offered the owner $2500 and he told me $3000 is the lowest price he will accept. I still think he may take less than $3000.

So you think $3000 is cheap for this car? I really wish the owner had accepted my $2500 offer and the car would be in my driveway now!

Only thinkg I see wrong with it is the clear lifting on the driver quarter. Other than that looks like it should be worth it.

Dude... 3 grand is a STEAL. How many miles are on it? Did you do a carfax? I paid 6 grand for my 97 SH with 120k on the odometer and it had been in a fender bender! 3 grand is WAY below blue book value for a lude that clean.

I think Thomas97 paid a bit more than that and his had 200k on the odometer. You better get that thing man...

That price is almost TOO low.

Also, it should be noted that on 97-98 SH's there was a problem with the "Moment Control Unit" (the control unit for the ATTS) that made the ATTS light trip more frequently than it should have. Most of the time, turning at low speed on variable terrain (like turning slowly with one front wheel on rocks/dirt/gravel and one front wheel on asphalt) will trip it and it will stay on until you turn the car off and on again... It is nothing to worry about normally, and you can fix it by buying a new Moment Control Unit and swapping it if it bothers you that much (it's expensive new from honda, but you might be able to get one out of a 99-01 type SH part out for pretty cheap and it will solve the problem). Also, do a fluid change on the ATTS when you get it... it takes AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (a lot of people get that wrong =P )

Again... if everything checks out, definitely buy that thing man. You could probably even buy it for 3grand and then flip it for 5+ if you really wanted to...

Just make sure everything checks out... don't just take his word for it. Run a carfax and a flood database check.

Also, make sure to turn the key to on (don't start the motor, just turn it to on), and make sure that the check engine light, atts light, and ABS light all light up, just to ensure that he didn't pull any bulbs on you.

Badmofo,

I remember looking for the ATTS light to illuminate when I turned the ignition on but I did not notice what other lights illuminated along with the ATTS light.

I had a buddy run a Carfax and it is clean. It is a one owner car purchased new at a southern middle Tennessee Honda dealer. He still has the window sticker and owner's manual in the glove box. The car has 166,000 miles.

The car had the back bumper repainted when the owner's friend backed into the car as he left the driveway. The paint is peeling off in one spot of the bumper.

I checked all the rubber moldings around the glass and I did not see any paint on the rubber so I think he is being honest when he tells me it has never been painted on except for the rear bumper. I check all the body panels and they all have the Honda VIN sticker on them and they all match the car's VIN.

Thanks for the info on automatic tranny fluid being used in the ATTS!

Yeah man, that thing is most definitely worth 3 grand in that case.... Like I said, you could turn a profit off of it if you really wanted to... you could probably even drive it for a year and still make a profit lol.

If I found that car for 3K I'd buy it, swap a few parts from 5th gen to it and sell mine. Thats a freakin steal, I personally wouldn't even try getting a better deal, I buy it and spend the night in it (not really spend the night).

Normally I would say you are correct that $3000 is a good deal but the car has been for sale for three weeks and it has not sold. So is it a deal or not?

It would be nice to purchase the car and drive it for a year and make a profit!

Then there must be a catch. No reason that car at that price should be on the market for that long.

you think thats alot..i payed 6k for 147,000 on the odometer on my prelude. plus, no airbag, no horn connected correctly and some other ****..so 3k is nothing..plus its one owner, as long as he kept up with all the stuff that hadda been done (oil changes, timing belt, water pump, all the shenanigans) then that is a steal and if you don grab that someone else is going to realize that's really cheap
