typically people are going to want to see what modifications you have done when you make 195whp on a stock motor.

doesnt the motegi version have a type S motor in it?

no..the motegi motor is a standard H22a4 BB6 Block, the only difference on the motegi was the suspension setup and standard 17" rims plus the red leather

oh. Well i can tell you that on the dyno i use, it wouldnt make that power. But it really doesnt matter how much power the engine makes. Take it to the track and see what kind of MPH you can run.

some one didnt set that dyno dynamics syno up right or they have it in free wheel mode. We have one in our town and my type-s with all my mods only put down 163, well our dyno tends to read way F**king low also. so who knows. but nice numbers man. I want to slap mine on a dyno jet ( to get some real numbers ) and pull over the 200 mark.

But mike, you gotta keep in mind that every single dyno is different, and it's not uncommon for the same car to pull three totally different readings if driven to three different dynos on each day. Your figures are good for that day and that dyno only. Also take into account wheels, tyre size, etc. A wheel dyno is really just a tuning tool, to give a written account on what you could do on a race track.

But it's still a good number, esp for bolt ons.

yeah and the guy that owns the dyno sets the wheel load up like as if he was going to tune it ( dyno dynamics can hold your car at any rpm at full throttle ) so that has to be what it is. There is also a wifes tale about the owner setting it hard so people will get low numbers for some reason and if you ask him about it he gets pissed ( proof in my eyes ) so who knows.

true but it pisses people off and they dont go back to him, so its his loss in biz. I care and I dont you know because I know what I ran at the track on crappy street tires with a $h!tty 60 foot so I'm proud.

I appreciate what 98 vtec is talking about..but at the end of the day the number mean a hell of a lot..its not just a bhp statistic but also shows torque output, fuel / air ratio, atmospheric pressure readouts and so on..

so tell me this,.without them numbers how do u know what ur car is doing, eg running too lean / rich, leaks in vacuum pipes or loss of power due to a induction systems not being fitted right.

its all fair and well to just throw on an induction kit or mod but if it makes your car less powerful or not run right wtf is the point on taking it to a track..yes its ok to get a 1/4 time..but if your damaging your engine whilst doing it then taking it onto a 1/4 drag also means nothing..

how do you know if all them mods are doing what they are supposed to be doing or did you just waste a whole lot of time and money and just slap themn on without adjusting them correctly??.

u dont need a dyno to determine air fuel or any other form of data besides what is shown on the graph. Thats what wideband 02 sensors are for. If you have a vacuum leak, it will show up while datalogging map voltage in your tuning program.

the whole reasoning for dyno tuning is to view the graph itself, not the numbers. the numbers are not important. The dyno is a tool used to make corrections to the engine so you can determine what the best ignition and fuel requirements the engine likes the best. The resulting numbers change from dyno to dyno, the actual look of the graph does not change. if you had a dip in power on one dyno, there will be a dip in power on another dyno.

getting your ET mph at the track truly determines how much power the engine has. if you make 200whp and only run 95mph, then obviously you dont make 200whp on another dyno where the same whp setup goes 102mph in the same chassis.

get my drift?

yep..only prob is there is no track around here and closest one is 100 miles away..guess ill have to make do with the dyno or take a day off work sometime and take a long drive down..

Dyno's are also very useful for doing things like calculating shift points, and getting an idea of what launches work best...............remember, on street tires (which actually grip BEST when spinning at 110-115% of actual road speed), you can have a WORSE 60ft time, that yields a BETTER 1/4 time on a car with a particularly peaky engine.

So yeah.........numbers in and of themselves may not mean ****, but there you have it.
