The one on the right has the entire back bumper painted blue... I really don't know the difference in years other than at some point, they started putting black housed tail lights on them.

(chimes in) Sup y'all
There is no telling one gto from another (the chassis never changed.) ilove my04 cause peeps roll on it thinking... that is one huge bonneville. I don't loke the new look because gm did the dumb(again) and discontinued the SAP package before they stopped selling the GTO. I love the look but why pay 500$ for just the grill kit, 400 for the lip, 600 for the rear, and 400 for the difes... i mean DAMN! Uncle buck, tell your nieghbor stop squusing ls7's into the gtos they don't need it

ok some breif history on the GTO's

the 04's came out with the LS1... rated at 350 HP, and looked like the one on the right except for the fact that the tails were spray tinted... originally red in color... they exhaust came out on the left side with dual tips, the hood didnt have hood scoops, the rims were all the same..... the 6 speed models came with 3.73(???) rear gear ratios and the automatics came with the 3.93.... now the difference between the 05's is they went to the LS2 which is rated at 400 hp, came with the "true dual" exhaust setup, had the hood scoops... the front and rear bumpers were changed... the 06's were exactly like the 05's only difference was that they had a new color sceme (i recall someone above said something about the burnt orange, which is an 06)... yes i have goats lounging on my lawn all the time, there is a pack of about 7 of them that roam to my place almost every weekend....but the best part is.... they cant keep up with a certain black prelude at the autox

oh and T.E.L. you were right the one on the left is the 05 and the one on the right is indeed a 04.... good eye sir

indeed the 66 is always nice!!

as far as the glorified grand prix comment..... there is one thing that you gotta remember.... back in the 60s when the first gto was introduced, it looked like a normal 2 post car... looked like your everyday grocery getter.... the just stuffed it with a huge V8, lighted the interior and they had a monster on there hands.... almost like what they did with the newer GTO's... yes i understand the newer stangs look like the old style BUT the new GTO was introduced BEFORE the new style cam out... yes iam sure GM could of designed something better looking.... but they kept it sleek and went after there sister company over in Austrailia.... Holden-Monaro.... only difference is on the Holden and the GTO... is the front and rear bumpers and also the badging... other then that they are EXACT.... so there is a reason its designed the way it is.... i honestly like the sleekness, you would be surprised how many ppl think thats its the grand prix/ grand am..... it makes some good racing and boooy are they a blast to drive

Wow, that's hurtful, to both gto and grand prix. look up the grand prixs with the 455 ponti v8 and you would never say that. The GTO 2004-07 did what it needed to in order to separate pontiac from the GM Uni-platform/cross over building strategy that sunk GM in the first place... EX:

SS Monte Carlo 454
GNX Regal ttv6
442 Cutlass Supreme

Same Chassis! Different Goodies!

I mean that crap can go on... Novas vs. Venturas (that had a gto package BTW) , Camaros vs firebirds (1996-2001)

Now that Pontiac has became the perfomance division again, GM is screwing up by making coked ss cobalts (now with 260hpturbo for 08') Those new fwd v8 zeta platforms, (impala ss and lacrosse super) and now Cadillac Wants some M-series and AMG sales by making V-series cars (which ironically clash against their cheaper GM counterparts).

The shame that the Grand Prix became because everyone wanted a FWD sedan... ridiculous the GTP and widebodies were nice, but they weren't The old badasses posted in autoshops across the US.
