Hey if you wouldn't mind I'd like a write up of the step by step process of painting the valve cover. Mine's all chipped up and I was looking around for a good tutorial on how to go about it. My main concerns are any precautions I should take when removing it, areas I should be careful about painting, and the type of paints + solvents + any other products used

anything info you can give me would be great

its pretty easy, just take off all the bolts holding it down, i believe there is 8 or 9 altogether. 2 in front, 3 in back, 2 under spark plug cover, and 1 under the power steering house(the black thing that goes across the valve cover on the right, i think its power steering? lol ) but yeah take all those off and unhook the vacuum line and the hose from the intake and just pick it up.

Once you get the valve cover off the painting is easy. just sand it all down, or use paint remover( thats what i did , worked great and then sand. then do any of your taping/painting however you wanna do it and then when your done put it back on.

took me a few hours when i did mine, wasn't to bad.

There is also already a write up in the DIY section.

Oh, and for the love of god...DISCONNECT YOUR NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE.

I did not, and ended up arcing my alternator wire across my header pipe when I was reconnecting the grounding strap.. Popped the 100a battery fuse and left about an inch long arc scar on my header. Was lucky I didn't blow a hole through my header or electrocute myself.

Safety first.

Nice Job on the valve cover. There is already a write-up or 2 in the DIY section. Feel free to add to it if you did something out of the ordinary.
