LED swap & Depo's

Got some new mods and toys recently. First started with an LED swap. Well not all of the bulb replacements were LEDs but they're all blue now anyway.

Started with Climate Control, Sunroof, and dimmer:

Then did the gauge cluster:

Only problem is the gauges are really dim, so I took them apart and stripped off the 'stuff' behind them to let more light through.

Much better:

Finally I did the climate control:

I also got some nice Depo blinkers. I wanted to change things up and get rid of the black lights. So I put the OEM side parking lights back in and now got my Depo OE style blinkers:

Re: LED swap & Depo's

Looks great man. I still have to do all the nights with the cruise control and such. Have the Dash and the climate ones done though. I'm surprised you had to scrape the backing off for the dash, mine were pretty bright. Where'd you get your bulbs from?

Re: LED swap & Depo's

I got my bulbs from autolumination and they were one of the brightest ones. I mean they wern't too badly dim, but compared to the other lights they were and it didn't look right. But now with them being really bright and having the option to dim them if I need to it's perfect. What color did you do Wargames?

Mines blue too. I love the look. Did you do your clock too? I'm still playing around with that 'cause right I'm now I'm still getting an indigo color.

Re: LED swap & Depo's

No I haven't done my clock, not sure if I'm going to...maybe later. But I did look at the DIY on how to do it, when it was all apart it looked like it could be easily damaged and I'm kinda afraid of breaking it. Where did you get the LEDs for your swap?

Re: LED swap & Depo's

I got mine from autolumination too. Might be the same bulbs you have.
The clock wasn't hard to take apart for me at all, took just a few minutes. Only part I had issues with was trying to hot glue in my blue filter. Glue ran all down the side, and I used a black sharpie to color it back in. Can't even notice the glue now though.

Re: LED swap & Depo's

What bulbs/bases did you get from that site for the cruise/moonroof buttons, I got some from there and I dont think I got the right ones because they hardly fit and none of the lights work now.

Re: LED swap & Depo's

I used "Neo - Wedge LED Instrument Panel Bulbs" - Type A. Maybe you got either type B or C. I got the Type A's and they fit in perfectly, once I learned how to get the old ones out and install the new ones. Plus if they don't work you need to flip them and put them back in, I believe they only work one way.

Looks good man, Makes me want to redo mine (since half of mine arent working anymore lol)

btw, the clock is easy peasy bro. If you can disassemble your cluster you can do the clock. IF you want a good blue you might want to buy a few different filter and play around with em. I ended up going with 2 blue and 1 purple to get the color I wanted. I wanted it to be darker, but I didnt feel like going back to walmart to try to find more/different translucent paper divders.

Do you have a pic of your clock? I'm using two blue dividers right now, might have to try throwing the purple in there to balance it.

For mine I used "30% brighter than regular Neo - Wedge LED Instrument Panel Bulbs" TYPE B from autolumination.com. They are a size 74 bulb. You need 3 of them for the climate control (2 on top of the climate control unit, 1 on the back).

If you also want to do the cruise control cluster, there are 4 lights in there (3 for each button and 1 for the CC indicator light). It uses the same bulb except you have to order the TYPE A's. The B's will not fit in these holes.

You can also use Type A bulbs in the hazard light's button, the window button on the driver side door, and in the coin holder (which messed me up when I found out I was supposed to have one in there).

Here's the website again: Autolumination Instrument Panel Light Bulbs & Lamps)

Yeah I'll definitely have to try that some time. Can't you take off the original film and make it white? I'd be down for a white clock.
