Fully Dynamated Prelude, with new speakers

9 sheets of Dynamat later, here are some before and afters of your most critical dampening spots on my prelude.
And yes, it does sound great :)
Comments welcomed

Door speaker, OEM

Door speaker with new Polk Audio MM in place with custom bracket

Driver door with trim and plastic "insulation" taken off. Notice the messy adhesive.

Same door with most OEM adhesive wiped off by rag

Same door, fully clean, using a heat gun and more rags

Same door with Dynamat applied

Passenger door with trim off, and cleaned

Passenger door with Dynamat

How the custom speaker bracket looks

Behind the trim, mounted cross-over (i also cut off the OEM basket around the speaker)

Trim back in place, with a spandex linen used to cover the exposed speaker parts

OEM rear speakers

Dynamated rear speakers, with all the crap removed

Underneath rear speakers

Trunk lid

How the trunk used to look...

Dynamated trunk with jack stand cut out (where the fiber-glass sub box will go)

Other side of trunk with amp rack, dynamated, and notice the wire re-routing.

Oh wow.

I thought Polk had gone out of business?

Re: Fully Dynamated Prelude, with new speakers

Ok. Shortly after I bought mine I was told that the company had been sold and would be dismantled. The car audio arm would be moved under the parent company's main brand or something and the home audio arm would be producing entry level drivers only.

Admittadly that was 2, maybe 3 or 4 years ago. But maybe it was incorrect advice anyway.

Re: Fully Dynamated Prelude, with new speakers

This is a first time attempt at applying Dynamat, so it definitely took longer but it took about:
5 hours per door,
8 hours for both sides of rear deck,
a whole afternoon for trunk..

Worth it??... totally
