Re: My 92 4th Gen Thunder saloon

Ford Cosworth YBD motor running 520bhp with 46mm intake restrictor, Spice Group C le Mans car rolling gear (suspension brakes etc ) Hewland DGB 5 speed transaxle (ex F1 / Le Mans ) Magnesium BBS centrelock wheels, air jacks etc.
The bodyshell is still 95% original Honda! Just cleverly modified to incorporate all the mods. It was built for Rod Birley by JTM services (Jim Morgan ) in England to compete in the British Thunder saloon series championship which it won on more than 1 occasion. I use it for short track tarmac events where I live.

Im in the process of registering it for street use so I can drive it to our events, it is surprisingly well behaved until you poke the right hand pedal !!

Re: My 92 4th Gen Thunder saloon

I'd imagine it like that! Thing looks fantastic! I see it as handling like it's on rails as well.

Cossie is a nice fit in the bay too, though a curious addition. Any reason why the Cossie was chosen rather than something from the Honda family?

Oh, and welcome to the forums mate.

Re: My 92 4th Gen Thunder saloon

I think they chose the Cosworth engine due to availability of tuning parts? Back in 92 there wasn't the stuff available for the Honda engines as there is now. Great forum BTW.

Re: My 92 4th Gen Thunder saloon

simply awesome.

That would be a sick headlight mod - shaving the corners. but would have to figure something out for turn signals. I like the lines of all of them. But the one with the Texas decals looks very street-able... especially with the widebody.

bump for a video request here too.

Re: My 92 4th Gen Thunder saloon

Thanks for all your comments guys, Peter Thurston sold the car in 2007 and it went into storage. I bought it Jan / Feb this year.
It has had a few colour schemes over the years but I think I prefer the stealth Black look.
I will post some more pics later as the work P.C does not like photobucket.
Cheers
John.
