Re: Atop The Parking Garages
I agree with all, nice pictures! I hope to do a couple of pictures like that myself soon.
But I do have a question, isn't it illegal to have red and blue lights in combination in the front of your car? Not that I don't think it's cool what you have, I just wonedred if you've ever got pulled over for it?

to do 5 and 8 just set your aperature to a very small opening so you can keep your shutter open for a longer period of time. on which ones? Quote:

Re: Atop The Parking Garages
They turned out awesome. I love the first one.
What did you use for the bulb shots for the light streaking? Did you but it on the auto f and just go to bulb?

i truly love your car so much. makes me wish mine was black...great pictures, i wish i had the tallent (and a sweet enough car) to get amazing pics like that
...but hey, could you show me where you got the bulbs you used for your parking lights? i've been wanting to get blue ones for a while, but you said you have some sort of tri-color deal? that sounds even better. LMK, thanks!

Re: Atop The Parking Garages
Hey buddy,
The pictures look great! I can see some serious improvment, and I can see that you (Like me) prefer to use a higher F stop and compensate with the shutter speed. It gives so much more detail to the picture. I love these pictures, but you might want to experiment with some external lighting. In the same way that a picture that has been washed out by too much light looks bad, one that is too dark can have the same problem. I took a few seconds and restored some of the light to try to show you how I would have shot them. ![]() ![]() ![]() Hope this gives you a few new ideas to play with! |

Re: Atop The Parking Garages
I need to go out and get some shots, I just have not had the time to scout out a place and then finding a time I can go take a picture there. Definitely more over the summer.
Quote:
I will number them. #1, I like the extra light that added, it helps give more focus to the engine, might have been good to try a higher angle to get more of the engine in the pic, but I like it. #2, a dual exposure would have been awesome for this pic, a high shutter speed to to get the fogs and a slower to get the car and background. Glare reduction would also might have helped. the building in the background is also a little odd, it dose not fit in with the rest of the shot. Also a bit of C-CW rotation is needed. I am not feeling #3, the lude facing the wall that closely makes it look just out of place. #4, A slow shutter speed then the first, making it a little more difficult to see your lude since it is black, it is always hard shooting black cars in the night. too bad for the sodium lights around the car, a possible solution to that is take 2 pictures the same shutter speed and every thing just adjust the WB for sodium lamps and then a second with normal WB, and then layering them and erasing the area that has the incorrect color balance. I hate those darn sodium lamps. ![]() #5 same as #4, the dual photos to adjust the WB, shooting in RAW format and then using Lightroom or PS to adjust the WB. #6 I also like this one a lot, too bad for the glare make by the fog, the city lamps look good. moving the camera slightly to the left might have helped reduce the amount of glare made from the fogs. The moon and clouds with the blue of the city lamps makes it look great. But the glare is hurting it. #7 how do you keep your lens so clean, there are no dirt/dust flares. I always have a problem with mine getting dust particles stuck on the lens. It looks good with the lights on, it is expected to have light flares around them. But I prefer #4. #8 Those darn sodium lamps. other than that a great shot, maybe a tad to long of an exposure with that f/stop. Overall they look great, I can see much improvement in your skill. They all have great contrast, I can see a 100% black and a 100% white. and on my computer screen any way the brightness is fine as well.

To Dwend: as for #2 i tried a different spot for that shot where that building, called the sun sphere, wasnt in it and i didnt like the way they came out. when you say WB, you are referring to the White Balance, correct? i dont have alot of experience with photoshop, other than just the basic functions. so when you say layer the photos, you mean to put one on top of the other and then erase the areas that look bad to let the bottom picture show through? is there any kind of filter that i can buy to compensate for some of the affects given off by the sodium lamps? the only reason i can think of why my lens is so clean is because if its not in my hands shooting i always keep the lens cap on and it is always in my camera bag. i know i still have a long way to go on my photography skills. thanks for everyones help along the way. |
