i just threw this exact post in my Member's Ride thread but i decided it'd get more exposure w/ a thread of its own...

ok so a while back when i got my WS2 i fell in love w/ it. after driving for a lil while (few months) i decided i wanted to go custom. so i talked to the founder of BBYO - Bustr Built Racing Yo (LMFAO) and we put our heads together. after talking to several member's on the site to get some ideas, pros/cons, and information, bustr and i decided to revamp the entire system and run a 100% custom, larger, more open exhaust system.

Megan Header, Collector Mod, 2.5" Flex (bought a sh1tty one and it'll be replaced as soon as my Vibrant Flex comes in), then a straight 2.5" pipe all the way back. we eliminated the cat and bustr welded in custom o2 bungs. the o2 bungs are approx 14" apart and the bung further from the block had an extension welded in so that the ECU gets a reading that is less rich than the front o2 sensor. i'm happy to say that i am not throwing a CEL, woot woot!!

now as for the muffler, we have no clue what it is or who makes it but it has a 2.5" inlet and a 4" outlet.
one of the guys that bustr works w/ had it and had a hole in it... the hole actually worked out to our advantage because he was able to weld in a patch and reinforce it so that we could weld up some hangers. it was a little beat up so i painted it black. hell you can never argue w/ free. lol. but i plan on getting a new muffler one day down the line.

THIS PIC IS THE COLLECTOR/FLEX WHERE WE CHOPPED OUT THE CAT. FROM THIS POINT ALL THE WAY TO THE MUFFLER IS ONE 2.5" W/ SEVERAL BENDS ALL THE WAY TO THE MUFFLER

THIS IS THE SH1TTY ASS MUFFLER THAT I USED PRIOR TO ME GRINDING IT DOWN AND PAINTING IT BLACK TO GO W/ THE CARBON FIBER LOOK

THE NEXT 3 PICS ARE OF THE EXHAUST ALL COMPLETED AND INSTALLED

HERE IS A LITTLE VIDEO I SNAPPED W/ MY CELL PHONE. I USED THE AUTO START TO FIRE IT UP AND WHEN I GOT ON THE THROTTLE CABLE IT DIED... AND YES I HAVE AN AUTO START ON A 5spd! WOOT WOOT!!

what size piping did you go with? 3"?

Sounds a lil loud for my taste, but has a nice growl. good stuff.

it was a lot to read but it says 2.5" in the original post. lol

i love the way it sounds. i def gained a decent amount of HP, prob something lik 48-52 whp! woot woot. lol just playing. it is a HUGE difference though. VTEC is fukkin powerful as hell.

Yea I went back up and read it after I posted. I glanced the first time thought you were just talkin about your previous setup.

Shoulda of went 3" getting a deeper roar. Woulda been swank

for my build i didn't feel 3" was necessary. we'll see what the dyno says and i may end up doin it again w/ 3". doubt it though. lol

nah mine is loud as fuk!! lol. i have not cat, no resonator, and i went with a larger pipe size. it is really loud but i'm not that concerned. lookin to pick up a DD. i have my sis' car and my mother's if i need them.

you can still do custom piping and to deaden the sound through in a cat and a larger muffler.

no it's the angle. and we left it slightly lower to compensate for the rear lip that will be installed next month, woot woot!

yea came out aight... sounds beast... i told him i wanted to raise it..but he says he wanted there.... black is yuckfooo for exhaust.... but whatever i just build **** what do i know.

nah they are sayin it's out far not too low. we can always fix that once i find a new muffler. and yes the black is not what i wanted but that muffler was fukked up and nasty lookin. lol.

thanks again for the help bustr. it came out great. can't wait to do the head work and get a tune!

couldent really tell from the pics.
if you did that is the BEST way to keep velocity up in the exhaust system, increasing power espically in the hi end rpm's
2.5 might be a little to much 2.25 is about the best ive heared you need to go, to keep the exhaust pulses nice and teathered togther to get them out as quick as possible.

nah 2.5 is real good. i actually could have gone w/ a 3" pipe. and yes it is open from the header to the muffler. no cat. 2.5" all the way back from the collector mod. i love it and i've def gained a shyt load of power. esp top end.

well if you want my honest opinion then i dont like how any mufflers look coming out of the back. Hence another reason i have the exhaust i have now.
