My nice and clean 5th gen 4WS

I just had it fully valeted (detailed) today by a garage who had it for 30 hrs, so I figured it would be a good time to take some shots of it.

The car is (so far) mechanically stock. Dated 2001 with 46,008kms (30,000miles ?) on the clock and has 4-wheel steering as you will see from the pics. Its the top of the range model that was sold here with leather seats and all that jazz.

It has a Wings West lip kit on it and KEI Racing RSS 18" rims with Avon ZZ3 225/40 tyres. Also added drilled/grooved brake discs.
Now, some will say I should lower the car but I can't and thats my fault.
When I ordered the wheels, I wasn't totally clued in and got them with the wrong offset so the rear wheels rub on the wheelarch under a heavy load (say 2 heavy-ish people in the back and then I go over a bump or crest too fast).
So I cannot go lower even though the tyres dont clear the wheel arch by probably 0.5cm (can I alter camber to offset that or not ?).

Anyway here are the pics....

http://racingrenders.com/Prelude/
Used a URL as the pics are big.

Errr..yes thats me in Pic-12 looking rather serious and worse for wear in the drizzly weather.

Thoughts, comments and suggestions are very welcome.
Criticism will be met with a huff ;)

why not detail it yourself? having someone else detailing my car is like letting them take my wife (DOROTHY MANTOOTH) out to a steak dinner and NEVER CALL HER AGAIN!

Re: My nice and clean 5th gen 4WS

I normally do, but this time I felt like letting it have the full treatment that I am too lazy to give it. I just wash, wax the exterior and dust the interior.
These guys went to town and made it look new. Washed the carpets, soaked the leather to make it soft again, got into every nook and crannie where dust lurked. I don't do that :)
So I treat her once in a while and they did a great job.

Re: My nice and clean 5th gen 4WS

Damn, looks great. I love our silver ludes... I like the clean simple look. I think by the time you "corrected" the rub problem by adjusting the camber you might have a serious tire wear issue (and potentially tremendous handling? lol)... depends how far off it is I suppose. I've never dealt with that; always been on stock rims.

Re: My nice and clean 5th gen 4WS

Actually I was wondering if changing the camber would be a possible solution, but I think even if it was possible on a normal Prelude, because my car has 4 wheel steering, that option is out of the window.
I guess the quick'n'dirty way is to fold up the inner wheelarch lips so there is no contact between it and and the tyre.
I'd hate to have to sell these rims and buy them again with the correct offsets.
After all that expense then I'd have to buy the lowering kit to justify it all.
Ho hum.
This is why Ive just left it like it is and not worried about lowering the car.
Besides where I live, in order to get to my underground parking I have to go up and down a steepish bank in order every day. my front spoiler *just* clears that as it is, by millimetres.

How the hell do you get 2 heavyish people in the back seats of the car? It's real nice though.

hehe true. I mean not 2 lightweight supermodels :)

Thanks for the compliments though guys. I've noticed a couple of people calling it silver and some of my work colleagues do too. I know the colour is Nordic Mist, but I've always seen it as blue, albeit a light one. Looks like I'm outnumbered on that one :)

Re: My nice and clean 5th gen 4WS

With the large wheel and the lip kit I think it looks pretty proportional. Lowering it with current equipment I think would look a little cheesy. Very nice car! Fender gap is on par and distance from rockers to ground is pretty good. Roll it as is!

Re: My nice and clean 5th gen 4WS

@ 98BB6SH: Hi, to be shamefully honest Im not sure if its Euro or Jap spec, but I do know its a 2001 2.2VTi 4WS. There is no Type S or Type SH here as that seems to be U.S. only. So no ATTS or anything like that.
It has the leather heated seats, cruise control, heated mirrors etc. I think this was the top of the range model that came here. I bought it 2nd hand as stock from the Honda dealer where the previous owner was an employee of the dealer so it was looked after.
I bought it with 23,000kms on the clock and it now has just over 46,000kms (30,000 ish miles).
I would have much preferred the manual gearbox over the auto/sports shift obviously, but at the price I got it for, I had to have it.

@ nevrdun: Thanks :) Yeah I just photoshopped my car with a 1 inch drop and tbh the look isn't so much different as to spend the time and money to drop it only to worry about the rubbing rear wheels and then having to swap the rims for another set.
It looks a little niceer but not enough to justify so I think I`ll settle for what I have in terms of height.
I`d rather spend what little money I have on an induction kit, non-stock exhaust and whatever else.

Tax free yes, but it's not an island, its a peninsular. Its hanging off the ass of Spain.
