Smok3y's Repair Progress

Well I got some decently good news for all you people who thought I was an asshole bum cus I was the only one who showed up to the meet without a car!

Yesterday I paid the first portion of my tuition to go through bartending certification for the state of New Jersey. I'll be going through a school, and getting my life time certificate. And since I was in a good mood tonight I was going to start fixing whatever I could on the war wagon to get it up and moving again. I fixed the shift knob/boot so its not falling apart, I got my steering wheel locked on tight (still need to find a harness that converts that gay tape wire to a single wire for my horn though) and I fixed my lighter and tore apart the caliper and took off the rotor and I'm looking at straight suspension now.

So I'm thinkin to myself tonight how much fun I could have, and how much money I could splurge on my car if my frame was bent. and I get underneath of it to find out that it is really just the bushings all 3 arms look like they are 100%. God I'm so glad that my bushings were all torn and dry rotted, It actually saved my frame from getting bent. If the bushings didnt tear it would have moved my whole frame.

So, I will be posting pictures of the damage as I take them. I have a few pictures from the day after the accident. Here are the ones I posted in my DUI thread

I'll have pictures of the bushings tomorrow hopefully. I'm thinking of making a DIY thread for 4g rotor replacement, and shock/strut removal since it will be part of the repair of my bushings.

In a week I'll be starting bartending school, then I'm off to get some $$$$. So hopefully my car will be back to the condition when I purchased it or better in < 4 months.

Anyway thats all for now, I'll be editing and updating this post as frequently as possible. Tomorrow I'll have pictures of the actual suspension damage.

**EDIT**
And No my car doesn't have 4ws it just looks it right now

How much is the parts going to cost you? Create an WTB thread, maybe an other luder has the parts you need. Where are you doing your body work? Does not look that bad. Going to be some work though. Well you got all Fall, Winter and Spring to get it done.

I'm actually going to purchase all aftermarket bushings. They arent that expensive (around $250 for a set of performance bushings) if the arms are bent in the least when I take them off, then I'll post up a thread. I asked around for them before b/c I thought they were, and they arent that expensive, so I know I'm not going to have to shell out a lot of money.

I have a buddy of mine whose friend does "on the spot" body work. He would pull whatever he could out of it, fix the gaps (especially between trunk and quarter panel) and use a body filler. From there He could either match the mirano red paint, or keep it primered. I'll most likely just have him primer it because I'm going to paint it later anyway.

Just the bushings are torn. The arms are crooked on the bushings but not bent. Like I said the bushings were dryrotted, so it actually saved me from crazy amounts of damage.

I'll take pictures later. tonight and post them up. You'll see how the arms are pulled to the side, but its just the bushings. I was sooooooooo happy last night.

Re: Smok3y's Repair Progress

First of all, clean your driveway! Second buy a 10 pack of batteries. LOL So what do you need to get the lude running? If you take it to a good shop they can fix the body but first worry about getting the lude running.

Re: Smok3y's Repair Progress

I'm sick as a dog, im hungover, and its raining, so I'm not cleanin the damn driveway!

lol.

I'm going to need bushings. I might just buy new arms anyway just in case I need them, and this way I dont have to worry about it. I'm going to take a trip to the junkyard sometime in the next 2 weeks. hopefully they'll have stuff for me. And I'm not worried about the body damage. I'll get that fixed when I get the time.
