possible problem

im buying an 86 prelude from a friend,he was driving it through water(just idling he says)and the timing belt slipped off.every shop i talk to says the valves are def gonna be bent,no way they arent.but my friend has another prelude same year i think.that the same thing happened and he said none of the valves are bent.anybody have any incite?

i believe that 2gs have non interference heads, meaning that they wont damage the valves if the belt breaks. It was awhile ago when I read about that, but i'm pretty sure it'll be fine.

Their interferance motors. The Only Honda that isnt a Interferance engine is the engines in the Honda Pilot. But at Idle I would pop the cyl head off check the piston and valves. If you are lucky it will be fine since it was at low rpm. Look for nice scrapes and dings on the valves and piston top. See how easily the valves move through the valve guids. Andy resistance at all means the valve is bent.

damn, how certain are you? i think i'm getting confused w ith too many engines
