I went out tonight for a drive because I finally got my (400 dollar a month) insurance. I stop off at where I work to talk to some people I haven't seen since a lot of scheduling and management changes, Long story short; my car will not shift into reverse. It's like there's a lead block in the way. It has had trouble with fifth and reverse (Fifth not-so-much). Reverse was touchy and had to be in just right to work. Now it won't go into reverse at all. My mechanic said the rods on Preludes are kinda thin, so it might be bent. Reading around I heard the mounts are commonly loose. Or the tranny is trashed, or getting there fast. Anyway you look at it it's going to cost me. Ah well, at least I didn't wreck.

honestly, I believe that this happens to most of the preludes out there. I say this because first I heard so many stories about it next it happens to me. I remember that it happened right after the third month in my car. I had to push it around when I needed to reverse. Also fifth gear used to grind really badly. At first I didnt know what was wrong so I let it go for a couple of days, then it it got worse every other day. Lastly it didnt want to throw in 5th, reverse, and it was really hard getting into third and forth. It was like nightmare, so I took it to a trustful mechanic that my fam has known for years, and he rebuilt it for $700. After that my trannys been going good.

took mine to a trusting transmission guy and he says it is indeed something internal.

He unhooked the cables and played with the selector on the tranny itself and he says it just as hard on the tranny as if he were in the car playing with it.

bottom line is...

"worse case scenario" its going to cost me about $860 for parts and labor. Now if he can just drop it and replace whatever is not right without having to open the whole thing up and rebuild the entire thing it will cost me much less.

Now by the time I have the money for this I may as well as just save up and have him do the clutch while he is in there.
