Underdrive Pulleys??

AEM tru-power pulleys or the UR Pulleys. My questions are, how do they affect driving and how do they effect power and how much. My friend and I are are arguing over it (he doesnt even have a car so his opinion means **** to me) Will they cause my lights to dim, really hurt my power steering any of that stuff? I want to install them after I get my h22 but only if they will help me. I want to make sure im making some kind of power. I'm looking into I/H/E Pulleys lightened flywheel with a new clutch. by the end of summer on my h22. What kinda power am I lookin at?

i have aem pullies right now... thinking about changing out to ur. here's why.

aem pullies are underdrive pullies. they free up power by underdriving your power steering and accessories (which is why you see lights dimming). most of the power loss is at the crank, so you don't gain that much from underdriving your accessories. if you really want to underdrive, underdrive the crank pulley instead. this is what ur does.

now there's another argument out there that says crank pullies are bad news. i've read lots on the pros and cons, as well as each camp calling bs or you need more research on the other. but imo, i'll just stick with the oem one.

now lights. if you're running heavy electrical stuff like a huge system, forget it. your lights will dim. if you're not, like me, then everything will be fine. powersteering... feels the same to me.

power gains from these things? i haven't dynoed, so i can't say. but on superhonda, spanishricer claims he's freed up a whopping 7whp when vtec kicked in from aem pullies.

I have a fully built motor and I still have my stock pulleys. they only thing stock still on the motor.

I have the UR pulley's LOVE EM' had them for about 4 years now, NO PROBLEMS!! This topic could be argued all day but if you're going to use pulleys get the UR ones....

Would I want to get the Ultra SS pulley set if I wanted pulleys from UR. I have an 01 SH

there's been a lot of debate on whether the crank pulley is bad. after a lot of reading, i'm starting to think i should just give it a shot... the ur one that is.

I would just get the UR crank pulley and call it a day. If I could, I would honestly get the stock diameter one, because most of the power gained is from the weight loss, not the underdriving effect

If you get the complete set remember to have a good air compressor and half inch gun handy...also...the pulley on the power steering pump is left hand thread...lefty tighty / righty loosey...

i have the whole setup crank and all the others it is really nice revs down fast and everything i recomend them if your not having a system in your car that is

Does Unorthodox make standard diameter pulleys? I have the AEM's and I hate the underdrive effect. You can buy the pulleys individually to right? I plan on trying to get electric power steering so I won't need that pulley and I don't want the crank pulley after everything I've heard about it.
