Well I noticed that my driverside door speaker wasn't really clear, was quieter then my other speaker and occassionally crackled. Well I decide to get to the bottom of it today. Keep in mind that I just got the car about a week ago. Anyway, I pop open the speaker cover and find a horrific sight.

It seems that the rubber has completely rotted away, leaving only the cone and center. What could have caused this? I know that the girl who owned it before me went to the beach a lot and was a smoker (of at least one kind), but unless the speaker on the passenger side is just a newer speaker, it's hard to imagine why there would be such a huge difference.
On another note. Can anyone suggest some good quality replacements? Any input on back speakers and subs would be good too considering I have the wiring for the subs.

Though I'm not sure why it runs to the backseat. I also question the fact that it pops out in the backseat from near the back of the bottom of the doorframe. Any input on this is also welcome. The red wire is 8 guage. It's all Fosgate.
