View Full Version : Where to put a monitor?

I'm really considering some in car video... Only problem, I can't think of a place where a monitor would work well, because I'm not going to put one in the radio area... I like the headunit I have and don't want to add anything to the area.
Any ideas?

Do a custom mount in the piece that the clock is mounted in. I've seen some vafc's mounted there and they looked pretty good.

If you check ebay their is a guy that makes and sells a carbon fiber piece to fit in the clock location for a monitor. Also you can look how he made his and do one out of fiberglass.
Here is a pick of one a buddy of mine did on a 5thgen.

If you are loooking to do a simple mod go for visor monitors. if you are looking to do some show quality stuff listen to 00CDMLUDER and hit up CarbonFiberCreations on ebay. he's got some crazy sh#t.
good luck. post some pics with whatever you do

I have no doubt that it is a quality product but really that peice is awful looking. Having a monitor right there would be soooo distracting and I know its going to be on going down the road. I have had in dash video for a few months now and have only had movies in it when we took a road trip early in the morning for my fiance to watch. I liked the head unit not the fact it plays DVDs. Its a novelty that wears out real fast. Dont spend too much on it.

Watching movies while driving not only distracts the driver, but has the potential to distract others. I read somewhere that in the UK they've had to legislate to stop people watching X rated movies on their in car dvd systems. Im presuming there was a big problem with this?

I have an in dash monitor and though it's nice, I hardly ever use it. I like that one from carboncreations though, got me thinking I might want it, lol. I agree with bravo "If you are loooking to do a simple mod go for visor monitors" other than that, I don't know what to tell you beside where the regular head unit goes.

I'm sorry, but I can't see anything simple about visor mounted monitors. You would have to pull the A pillar plastic and the headlining to get the cables to them, then carve out the foam on the inside of the visor get it to look nice...too bloody hard IMO.

Normally (not always) when they put monitors in the visor they replace the visor all together. I NOW don't think monitors in a coupe are really necessary but if you want one then go right ahead, I GOTZ MINEZ!

There is one guy on ebay that does them. He goes by unique-karbon, not carbonfibercreations. I will inform you though that U.K. does overlay in carbon fiber, and he does need a part to do all the work. Your best bet is to find an extra center dash panel and let him use that.

yes I do custom fiberglassing also, if you would like just a fiberglass finish, painted or primed that would be no problem. The price would be cheaper than carbon. You would need to supply me with you panel, and I would also need to order a monitor. Let me know. Uniquekarbon@yahoo.com
