I should probably check a car audio forum but I have a quick question. Anyone ever used one capacitor for two amps? I'm not going to be pushing very much, just a 550 watts 4 channel for my front and rear and another 500 mono for a sub. A 1 farrad cap should do the trick but I've never used a single cap for two amps before. Anyone have experience, good or bad, trying to do this?

I wouldn't bother with a cap for that much power. I'm running more than that on the factory fifth gen electrical system with no troubles whatsoever.

But in answer to your question, yes you can run both amps off that one capacitor. Just hafta have a splitter, same as if you wanted to run two amps off one power cable (which I've done because it was hard enough to get one power cable into the car, I wasn't doing another one!)

For reals.

You certainly can. If you have a cylindrical cap with bolts that go through ring terminals on top (most common) you just need a ring terminal to go to each amp. They cost about twice as much as a good distribution block and has many more benefits. If you can afford and have room for a cap it never hurts to have one. Any kind of quick draw will come straight from the cap rather than your bat and charging system.
