okay guys, I want your honest opinion to help me make up my mind. I'm being offered a set of 17" volks for sale that I like a lot, but I'm concern about them being 17, My present setup is 16" summer and stock blades winter, but I'm looking for a change because the 16" look is getting bored, I want to fill the weld more and make the car look nicer, so do you think 17 is too much for my 4th? how big is too much?

17's look too big on 4th gens IMO. But then again i'm still riding on stock rims. When I get rims I'm goin for 16's. Post pics of yours, i'll decide if they look to small, plus I wanna see 16's on a 4th gen.

I'm riding on 17's stock height with low pro hankooks, and they leave too much open room in the wells in the rear, front is pretty good though. If you go 205 tires 17's fit even 18s do, but go bigger tires with 16's probably be better.

I'm not stock height, I'm on H&R sport which is a mild 1.3 drop, plus I can lower it a bit more with my konis if I want too, and yes I'm hoping to go with 205/40 if I decide to buy those wheels, they are the sweet bronze volk te37. To all of you thinking going 16" is good size, but appearance isn't that great unless you drop the car a lot and get like 45 or 50 profile and wide tires but I have to let go off the 16" racy look for a while and make my car look pimpier:cool: without the big wheel rice look.

well i would asume they would look sweet on the 4th gen i know they are great on the 5th but yeah it would depend on the size of the tire as well

i'm running 17s with 215/45 tires. my coilovers are adjusted to where there is no gap in the well. looks fine to me... not too big, not too small.

I ran a 215-40zr17 nitto neo gen and had no problem with h&r race springs...

I'm running 18"s now. I'm glad I haven't paid for them yet because I'm prolly gonna give them back because I can tell it doesn't handle anywhere near how it did on stock rims. I just have Yokohama Avid V4's on my stock rims and it handles a WHOLE lot better than now, with some kinda $425 a piece Yokohama tire. So definately, if you care about performance, don't go 18.

17's are good, depending on where your driving. bad roads like mine and you couldnt do much more than that

I'm on 17's and dropped about an inch and a half on Ground Control Coilovers and KYB AGX's, I think the 17's are perfect, 18's are way too big. I've been running 205/40's for the past two years on these summer wheels (switch to stock for winter) but I just had some BFGoodrich g-force KDW2's put on and I went 215/40 this time. They'll be going on this Friday:tup: . But yeah, I think 17's are just right.

There's a set of bronze Volk's for sale and you haven't bought them yet?

I have 17s and they look fine.. would look better with a drop, but no matter what size Volks will look good. I've seen 17"s and even 18" CE28's.. both are VERY sexy. Go for it.

Go for the 17s. They are not too big. Many of us have 17s with no problems.

i mean, if 17s can fit on a 3rd gen, and don't look too big, i think you 4th genners can pull it off even nicer. that is my opinion though.
