I was looking to replace my huge carpet piece. Figuring it would be relatively easy, removing the seats, console area and back seats. I ebayed it, haha, and it's over a 100 bucks. I just had my entire room carpeted for not much more than that... So if the right type of carpeting was found, I could use my old carpet as a template, cut out the new piece and slap it in. What do you guys think?

the thing is if you buy generic floor carpeting that isn't meant for an automotive application, its not gonna have the factory humps and curves and follow the contour of the floor as good as if you were to buy one from honda. so i think it'll come out all wrinkled in the corners and ish.
but yea, to take the carpet out, you gotta:
take front seats out
take lower rear seats out and rear middle piece/sex blocker if you have it.
take off door sills
shifter, center console, and armrest
the dead pedal
at all 4 corners, unbolt the interior panels just enough to slide the carpet out from underneath them
your also going to have to cut the carpet under the ebrake cables, and also way behind the radio in order to remove it
pretty sure i got most of it.

ya, you would have to figure out a way to mold it, because some of the carpet is in weird shapes that a flat piece couldnt mold too.

unless you used a bunch of smaller pieces, but that wouldnt look very good i dont think... I say just save up and buy all new carpeting, you'll enjoy it alot more. Unless of course your some master carpeter, then you can come change mine for me too haha. Let us know how it works.

make sure you buy a molded carpet for your car specifically. most have the necessary padding in the proper places as well. just spend the $100 and you'll end up with better results.
