dash camera setup?

anyone have a camera setup?? I've been searching the web and i've found many options.. but do i really want to spend around 1000? I kindof want 2 cameras.. front and rear.. record to an ipod like device... then edit on my cpu.. any suggestions?

I've seen a few people doing this with the running of in-car PC setups that drive their whole AV system. So basically the PC drives the screen and plays the music.

But the cameras talk to the PC before they talk to the screen so you can simultaneously copy stuff.

Or you could rig up a camera bracket similar to this one at NTPOG (http://www.ntpog.org/mods/fifth-camera/fifth-camera.shtml) and just plug the memory card into your pc at the end of your drive.
