i was riding with my buddy last night and we were on 540 here in NC which is like a highway that goes around the city. Anyways, there were a bunch of other tuners about to race, so they slowed down to 40mph and were kind of just cruising, after a couple of false starts and trying to get everyone together my buddy and another friend in another car decided to just pass them and get out of that group because traffic started to build up behind them.

As soon as we start to speed up to get around them they take off, and they had some fast cars. As soon as they were out of site, and we were slowing down, we see the blue lights, the trooper raced along side my buddy and motioned for him to pull over, and then took off after my other friend. By this time all of the other cars are long gone.

So after everything is taken care of, both guys got cited for, speeding and speed competition. Any advice at all? Since im not sure if the trooper saw the other cars, and didnt see us accelerating, why couldnt they just have been "cruising" together. There was no aggressive acceleration or "racy" or aggressive manuvers. Both drivers cooperated with the trooper and all.

any thoughts?
