ahh im still learning this stuff as i constantly research itwould something like the above link be a good thing to buy solely for the purpose of getting everything i need and then getting a brand name turbo to replace the one it comes with. my thinking is that this way i could be assured that i would have all the basic components, and could just get a brand name turbo
let me know what ya'll think. i just dont think im competent enough to piece it together myself yet so is this package a good base? :smashfreakB:

i like your idea but find one that has the intercooler pipe route made for the car because its a pain to make your own. also get a better bov and wastegate because cheap ones leak after little use. you dont have to buy a name brand turbo just replace the internals with garret. also your going to need a wideband and somthing to tune with. good luck with the project.

about wastegates...since i dont live in cali (CARB regs), id like to dump it in the exhaust without the wastegate for some serious HP gain. how hard is that to do. im assuming thats 100% safe, ive heard about the gains from it but never any negatives.
id def like to replace that very soon after getting it with a bar and plate FMIC. where can i find piping made specifically for the lude? on ebay the piping kits are 'PRELUDE s2000 CIVIC PIPING' so its clearly not specific
dumbass question=wideband?

Those ebay turbo kits are a VERY VERY VERY bad idea!!! Turbos are junk, wastegates are junk, BOV's aren't too good, good luck with that piping kit, intercoolers are DECENT, manifolds are DECENT....
By the time you're done replacing all the junk parts, your gonna end up spending ALOT more time and money on replacement parts than if you just bought a real kit or pieced together your own.

And I think your a little confused on wastegates: you NEED a wastegate, you can't run without one, thats what regulates how much boost you can run. Then you can either dump the wastegate to atmosphere which will give you more horsepower, but will sound like a bad exhaust leak. Or you can recirculate it into the exhaust which will rob a little hp, but will be quieter.

x2. Read twok's "So you wanna go turbo" for more info. He knows more about boosting preludes than anyone I know. Besides....preludes deserve name brand

i think what your talking about is an internal wastegate. some turbos have them and some dont. external is better but its up to you.
