So i have in my possesion 2 clarion 6x9's and 6 1/2's for my 4th gen. I also have an MTX 7500 series 12" sub..... lookin at getting Cerwin Vega 15".
1. would having a 12" and a 15" be a good idea or pointless?
2. Does having one sub mounted normal and one inverted show a gain in sound?
3. if i only have one sub. which is better norm or inverted mounting?
any input is better than none so add a suguestion either way

the 12 and 15 have diff sounds and they would cancel some of each other out best to go with the 12 and get another of the same size later

Okay you really don't want to mix the subs and regular or inverted mounting doesn't matter as far as sound. If one is reg and one inverted then one need to be out of phase or you will make very little sound. Stick with one or the other. If you still want lound go to a JL audio dealer and pick up a dual 13W1v2 box. Rip your head off for 400 bucks in a JL designed box. Ive heard em....their nuts for the money. The subs don't "sound" different. Big misconception. They have different frequency responses. More than likely the 15 will roll off lower than a 12 and a 12 lower than a 10 and so on. People say one "hits harder" no wrong. Ive heard 10s as muddy as wet dirt and 15s smack your head through the windshield. Its all in the speaker itself and the amp running it.

X2-nevrdun is spot on here. Only thing I have ever seen become an issue is suspension noise in a hatch back. In the trunk of a lude or any other car you will not be able to hear the suspension noise anyways. I dig inverted just make sure not to get anything into the VC area when inverting. I say go for it. I would just do the 12", if wanted to go 15" I would go IB with an IDQ, IDMAX, 13W7, 12W6 or something like that. Going IB you can run 2 15", still have trunk space left and IB requires less power on tap.
FYI bit of info but nevrdun summed it up really good.
If it is one sub, it cannot be wired out of phase, only reverse polarity. Common misconception.
Out of phase is when you have 2 speakers, or subs, with one wired with the correct polarity, and the other reverse polarity. Then it DOES suffer, tremendously. You can immediately tell if this is how someone has it wired up. There is little, too no bass, and it sounds "muffled".
If the sub is inverted, it will have to be reverse polarity, so the piston is pushing in the same direction as it would have been mounted normally.

Yeah gotcha I was refering to the one reg and one inverted. We kinda seem to be on the same page with the whole audio thing. Good to see someone else that into it.

15s are hot trash in my opinion... one 12 in a ported box with a good amp would sound good. i wouldnt invert it either thats a waste unless you have a box designed for that ...

inverted or stadard has no difference in sound quality. To me and a lot of people it just lookes hokey. The best bang for the buck if you just want a lot of bass is going to be a 15 if you have the room. if you want a little bass to add to music then a single 10 or two and a small amp is what you want. Size of sub is fairly irrelevant. Ive heard systems with a couple 8s that you would have guessed was a lot more and ive heard some high excursion 13" subs (guess which brand) that hit a bass guitar note change impecably and a kick drum that you feel smack you in the chest like you are stading on stage at a concert. 10s are easy to fit, require less box volume and give you the desired affect of what you are after. A speaker to efficiently play between somewhere around 10-80 Hz.
