So, I'm on my way to work on Tuesday, and its drizzling so im running my parking lights and fog lights (naturally). I wasn't breaking any laws since you must have some lights on with youre wipers on. Now, keep in mind, my parking lights are the blue LEDs. I've passed countless county cops, including a bunch of state bacon, and none have ever even looked twice at me as i go by...and i run my leds and fog lights a LOT.
Anyways, so I pass this rookie cop, and he's eyeing me hard. He immediately flips around...and I know what he's coming for...so I just pull over. No use in playing stupid. And he informs me that I "have blue lights on the front of my car." I was like..."yea, I know". ANd some other cop pulls up and they bring out the law book...i guess trying to figure out what they can burn me for. SO both cops come back and let me know that in the state of MD, its illegal to have a visible blue lamp on your car (as opposed to an INvisible blue lamp?) I don't get it. So they got me with a $50 fine...and wrote nothing on the ticket except for "visible blue lamp on vehicle". WTF. My dad thinks I should fight it...I mean its only 50 bones, but 50 bones is 50 bones man.
Thank you, good day.:star:

its illegal here as well.. blue is reserved for emergency vehicles here.
The visible thing means you can have blue lights in your car, like under your dash or something. Buddy of mine got pulled over 2 years ago for blue neons inside his car, like up in the headliner. Stupid cops
Good luck if youre going to fight it

I got warned a few years back for those POS aftermarket headlights from nopi like iceblue or something...luckily the cop wasnt a douche to me but yea it comes with the blue, most cops wont care, but I just decided to get real hid's the less reasons they have to pull me over the better.

that is gay man. really if they dont flash no one is going to think your a cop you know.
Sorry to say illegal here in Virginia as well along with red LEDs also in front the rear is ok.
Blue lights are reserved only for law enforcement in front of vehicle or behind vehicle.
Red light up front are reserved for emergency vehicles only.
You can however run any other color I believe like green, yellow or purple.
Also you can't even have neons under the car, well you can have them, but they must be off while your driving only time can be on is parked in a parking lot or something like that. Can't have them on at all on the roads (like at a stop light) They will give tickets unless this has changed I think it is VA law.

Just pay the fine mate. For the sake of $50 it's just not worth the effort. Legal fees, court costs etc will all go against you if those rookie cops pull their law book out and it says 'no blue lights.'
Blue is specifically reserved for emergency services (fire, ambulance, police, etc) as with red if it faces any direction other than backwards.
But I agree with you, that's a pretty low reason to pull you over and do you for it.

No, they were hardcore BLUE LEDs...the ones with 15 little LEDs in each bulb.
Now I just have the hyper white LEDs in there and THOSE are pretty sweet.

Yea, 50 bucks is 50 bucks, but still. Its 50 bucks...But I already paid it...and we're all good.
that sux but i think its funny because he had to search for a prob. cause to give you ticket.

Yea man...all they did was add to the stereotype of cops being complete morons and assholes to boot.
I think its might have something to do with attitude, no disrespect but if your in a bad mood for getting pulled sometimes police take that as hostile, they deal with a whole lot of people the good, the bad, the ugly. Not to mention risk there lives out on the roadways, so I am always respectful even if they seem to be overdoing it alittle bit. I know its not professional to let your emotions into your work, but I would think if I were a police officer, and the line of work I would be doing you wouldn't be human if your emotions didn't get to you from time to time.
Sorry for the duplicate post, I had to leave my computer here at work for a while and the page timed out and had me log back in and asked if I wanted to proceed so I clicked it and it made a duplicate post
I just edited it out.

Yea man...I get what you're saying...Even at my job (bank teller), dealing with the public is a HUUUGE PITA...Its really difficult trying not to let your emotions get the best of you...and letting assholes get to you.
I know, I was definitely pissed off, I was late to work...it was raining, and the cop took his sweet time reading the law book trying to find something to burn me for. But its all good now...paid and done.:spankme:
