honestly dude, you dont really sound like you know alot about cars, and turbo'ing a car is NOT an easy thing to do. its very very involved.

if you cannot afford a new engine, the downtime to HAVE a new engine installed, or if you dont have alotta automotive know-how, turbo'ing isn't something to toy with.

my 2 cents. speaking from experience.

listen to the man... We all cringed a month ago when he got on here and told us he blew his engine with his turbo.. now he still doesnt have it completely done, can you afford to have your car down that long?

well to add to this. I do know a good amount about cars. I know about turbo set ups and if its not tuned properly that it will end in disaster. The only reason why i get on here and ask a sh** ton of questions is because i DONT trust EBAY i have been ripped off three times. So i ask what other people think so i get something of reliable quality. Yes turbo can add performance if done right. And i would do it right but workin on a budget. Crank pistons rods camshafts valves springs the works. I know what has to be done. BUT the turbo kits i asked about are ONE part to a BIG picture, i wanna slowly buy parts till its all bought then install and tune it right. If ANY of the turbos on ebay will work if tuned right then ill take it. But if they are all crap then thats all that needs to be said. I do appreciate the input a lot i take it all to heart but dont say i dont know about cars. not a lot im only 20 and learning by the day. but dont insult me

I'll tell you from experience it's not easy and it's not cheap. lets put it this way i changed pistons, rods, cylinder sleeves, and a piggy back system just to turbo my car plus some extras like gauges and all that and other things try $10,000 so far so you might want to re-think or save up i bought the Drag Turbo kit from a website don't use ebay sure it's great and all but they aren't all that promising.

Thank you for the input. I know it can be costly when you do things things right. But this is my project car, not daily driver. Its being built to be clean, JDM or rice, quick and reliable. For street or track

Nick didn't mean anything by it man, he was just saying it didn't seem like you knew much, if you do, and you feel comfortable with it, thats great. He was just trying to save you from the fate his engine met

alright fair enough. with the other questions you were asking before i was just getting a little worried. but again, TURBO and BUDGET should never, EVERR be used in the same sentence!! do you even know how much its gonna cost just to have this done: "Crank pistons rods camshafts valves springs the works"
thats not even getting into the turbo related parts.

yea i know i post a lot about a lot of stupid things but im not dumb in all of it. and i think for everything it came out to about 8000 without the storker kit i think.... gotta look again. but its all chill like i said im 20 and learning

yea i wanna run my 1/4 mile but the only actual track around here is only a lame 1/8 mile... thinkin of using my buddies G-force gauge that reads times and g force etc

Boostedlude98
11-11-2007, 10:36 PM
you dont need to change valve train i didnt and mine are holdn up fine but i have some heat treated valves, and titan springs and retainers on the way plus a pair of stag 3 cams and gears. also stroker sounds great but that is even more tuning remember that.

ok ok ok... question what turbo size is for best street/track t3/t4 or what?

twokexlv6coupe
11-11-2007, 11:08 PM
stroker kit on a boosted car is pointless and a waste of ALOT of money.
the stock head flows plenty good for about 400hp. but if you have the money to do it, why not.
t3/t4 isn't just one turbo. its a whole line of about 50 different sized turbos.

gahhhh

i think he might be talkin about the hybrid one

twokexlv6coupe
11-12-2007, 12:27 AM
every t3/t4 is a hybrid. they're a combination of different compressor and turbine housings, wheels, exducers, inducers, flanges, and bolt patterns.

well whats the IDEAL turbo size

ninety3lude
11-12-2007, 02:06 AM
wait a second. you said it would need even more tuning with a stoker kit. are you assuming that he tunes it before and after or are you saying that it will be harder to tune. i thought you just tuned it really good and professional once for a turbo and it was good to go.

ninety3lude
11-12-2007, 02:08 AM
and is 8 to 10 grand a good estimate on how much to expect to pay on a full engine build and turbo running at minimum of 15 lb boost

well whats the IDEAL turbo size

the ideal turbo depends on what your goals for horsepower and torque are. Here is a link that has formulas on how to decide what "works" best for your application

stole the words outta my mouf.
what are you gonna be using the car for? autox? drag? daily driver? highway monster? dyno queen?
its very hard to answer such vague questions like "whats a good turbo"

xcaliber7345
11-12-2007, 09:33 PM
highway monster

1. What motor?
2. What are your goals? Example- Horsepower goal?, Stockblock goal?

It all depends on your goal.
