leather seat fix?

first ever post here in this new site, thanks for creating it, I love the way is setup, colors and everything and thanks for letting me be part of it.

My question: had anybody ever had their leather seats fixed, mines are starting to crack and the lower side support is bent outward from wear and it doesn't hold me well during cornering:eek: . Do you think a shop can fix them back to make them look as the original oem as possible? just the front seats the rest of the car is mint;) .

well we're glad your here mugen. yeah i had the same prob on my car. a leather shop can get it fixed without having to buy all new seats. make sure after you get it fixed. you put leather treatment on it so it doesnt happen anymore. :cool:

how do they fix it? they dye the leather or they replace the pieces with new leather?

mine was replaced with new pieces of leather. and yeah, like ty said, make sure you treat your leather after you get them replaced. best way i've heard it explained is leather is animal skin. just like your skin, it will dry and crack if you don't take care of it. get a leather treatment kit to clean and moisturize it. man... i'm starting to sound like a girl talking about beauty products. :p

I do that now, to keep it from getting worst, but the treatment I use (armor all leather wipes) leave my seats very slippery to the point where I'm sliding all over the place, it's so funny, I find myself laughing while driving. Then it gets better after I guess the leather absorbs it or something, I once consider race seats, but the looks of my seats is too nice to let go. The sliding lasts like a week or so, does the treatment you guys use give you this effect? what's better than the leather wipes?

i use the same leather treatment kit la-z-boy gave us for our sofas. works well and smells nice. but yeah, i slip & slide after cleaning. :)

did you get the entire seat cover replaced or just on the bolsters where the wear is the worst? Any pics? my seats aren't bad but I want them to be perfect...

and yeah the ebrake handle cover is long gone...

your seats like nice willy....but yeah mugen your problem is the armor all. IT SUCKS! do not use it. id only use it on tires. DO NOT USE ARMOR ALL ON YOUR INTERIOR. your leather,vinyl has more of a chance of drying out and cracking when you use armor all. use lexol, its good for you leather seats.

i replaced the pieces where you sit on. that's where my worst wear is because when i was moving, i punctured the seat with the corner of a nightstand. it just got worse over the years. sorry, no pics. if you want, i can take some tonight.

Yes, armor all is very slippery. I don't even like it on my tires because it always runs and looks messy later. As fo rthe seats, the stuff for the couches does work great, but I use leather cleaner like you use on clothes, like for a leather coat and it's not as slippery. It smells good too.

you guys think I'm using regular armorall for the tires in my seats, that's not it, I'm using special wipes formulated for leather and it happen to be manufactured by armorall brand, but anyway, I'm going to use them in my leather sofas and try something differenet, that doesn't make it slipery, I'll try lenox this time.
