Ok so I have an 01 sh with new cams and am about to get new cam gears. I think I am going to go with the bisimoto cam gears. my real question is i am looking for a good tuning application and dont know which one to use. I have a vafc but that just isnt going to cut it. I want hondata but it disables the atts and i want to keep it. I have heard good and bad about crome so I dont know about that. i also heard aem was decent but havent heard much. I was just wondering what everyone thinks I should go with. any input is great. Thanks!

it being an sh I think ( im not fully sure ) stuck using a piggy back system. I had a vafc that was ok now I have an AFC NEO that I got paid to have ( long story ) and its alot more tuneable so try that. Well un less you can get some thing that disable the atts.

that's the problem any aftermarket ECU does disable the ATTS. i'm having the same problem, i wan't to install some parts but then i will need to tune and i haven't figured out what i can use. 200hp w/ atts is better that 250 w/ no atts. just my opinion, goes w/ my driving style.

How about 200 with NO ATTS :worried:

I'm down to hear about some of this stuff too. Since my ATTS doesnt work, I'm not too worried about it being disabled:redface:

Yea man, its awesome to tell people about becuz about 99.9% of them have NO clue what you're talking about. Its funny, but its irritating after a while when they STILL dont understand after a few minutes of explaining. I just stop explaining and say "trust me, the only way you'll EVER be able to understand how it works is to take a ride with me down a really windy road. ="
Then, they finally get the GD point.

I had a mechanic try to tell me that my clutch job was going to cost 1200 bucks b/c the atts made it harder to do....by the way, i drive a 4th gen, so i knew he was full of s.h.i.t. I totally called him on it, what a bastard. if he didn't already have the car apart i would've taken it somewhere else, he only charged me like 350 bucks.

I'm not sure if youre talking to me or kizzzzle, but I went with what you recommended...the Skunk2 Pro1s with Pro cam gears, Crower springs and titanium retainers.

Umm...Mainly, its because I couldn't find the Pro valve springs on the site. It doesnt matter does it? Well, i hope not, since I just got everything yesterday.

Yea I finally got in touch with Tempest Racing which is only about 40 minutes away, right next to MIR...and the guy told me everything that I would need (i.e., P28 ecu, Hondata, blah blah blah) Only thing is now I have to find a p28...he mentioned that they were quite hard to find around here. But maybe i can find on before I go in.

honestly... if you want cams and all that good stuff. you have to give up atts. you just have to. those apexi joints does not tune timing. the greddy E-ultimate black box tunes timing but I have yet to see one good story about it. not even the dsm guys like that system. so what does that leave you with? going obdI and loose atts. you can use those piggy back units to tune your cams all you want to but you will not get a proper tune.

tel

buy blake's ecu, it will be a smart move. or sell your cams so you can keep atts. your choice.

What about crome doesnt that do everything?

basically you cant use the standalone systems because they will disable the atts you want....i know fastkill/kenny was in your same boat..about tuning and keepin the atts...

the piggy backs are...ok...but wont really help you with your cams...
id atleast settle for a a good chipped ecu representing something close to the tune you would need to optimize on your mods.

personally though i would bolt on bolt on bolt on and maybe chip until i decide i really want to go more aggressive with the modding...
THEN just get an LSD and boom disabling atts is no longer an issue haha.

So wait, will getting a chipped ECU do away with the need for tuning? Or do you get the ECU and then go get tuned?
