the speakers you bought are too deep are are hitting the torsion springs. you need to buy shallower speakers, sry

or take out the torsion springs and lift the trunk w/o them every time.

moved into audio too.

If you must use those new speakers then maybe using something like a spacer ring to lift the speakers higher away from the torsion springs can help. But takes time to scratch build and speaker may hit window now.
or of course just dont use the torsion springs like last post.
But I would just find another set of speakers so it's a plug n play.

yeah i got some free sony xplods...and they wouldnt fit so i had to break off a ring off around the things that hold it..after that they fit like a glove...lol

I did the same thing so Im taking the stock speaker holders out, cutting 2 7.5x7.5 inch pieces of plywood, cutting a hole in them, making em look nice and use them as spacers to hold the speaker up...

yea i had some xplods in mine when i bought it...i took the cover off and peeled the oem fabric and put them back on...they were a mess so i cleaned them...i have so JDL's i might throw in there tho...i found them in the door when i put my pioneers in there....so my car didnt have to bad of audio when i bought it...but my tweeters were blown...big whoop tho:tongue:

the xplodes I had fit fine, they were in it when I bought it though. The front speakers were shot! the cone wasnt even held in place anymore.. so I put the xplodes up front to help balance out the woofers in the back... then I put some Kenwoods in the back, they fit just fine

it would look cool to put the rear speakers on the center thing like jdm ones, exept instead of 1 6x9 u got 2 6.5s or whatever...not sure if theyd fit though

probably not much, i also dont think it will stay open on its own.......i couldnt fit 6x9s in mine w/ out cutting metal..

so u did fit 6x9? how did u cut the metal ?? and did u cut off the torsion springs??

no im saying i would have to cut metal if I wanted to put 6x9s in...im sure it can be done...instead of taking out torsion bars i would make/use risers. Also, If I had to cut metal I'd probably use a dremel with cut off disks and make sure the rest of the interior is covered up good, and take very careful measurements

i suppose u could always make another shelf made from mdf and place it on top of the existing one.
