pretty upset, last time i ran 14.5 with full interior and stock hood on semi-slicks
This time i ran with no interior and cf hood on semi-slicks, and on all 3 runs i managed to get 14.6... only good thing was my rt went down to .4 and my trap was 95.
I believe my downfall was that last time when i ran 14.5, i had my tires at 19 psi, and when i was launching, it was just going.
This time i had them down to 14 psi, and in all 3 runs i was hopping...
btw, the car is a stock jdm h22, crome basemaps, exhaust, k&n filter, 173whp...

i need some advice, i wanna get my time a lil lower.

you'll get everything down right eventually man. Just be patient. You're doing pretty good actually.

I keep telling Rich that mid 14's is FAST...but Rich is stubborn, which is okay b/c he strives for perfection. Something I admire dearly in Rich.

the only thing i can suggest is get yourself a lighten flywheel and new clutch, that should help you.

what are your 60 foot times

well i am looking at my slips from last time (which i ran 14.5)
here it is, it might be able to tell you something, 2 best slips

8/29/07 ------------------------10/20/07
R/T .741 ----------------------- R/T .492
60' 2.266 ---------------------- 60' 2.288
330 6.142 --------------------- 330 6.228
1/8 9.390 ---------------------- 1/8 9.462
mph 75.78 --------------------- mph 75.97
1000 12.185 ------------------- 1000 12.248
1/4 14.558 -------------------- 1/4 14.613
mph 95.16 ---------------------- mph 95.32

well i can tell that on 8/29 my tires were gripping hard, now 10/20 i kept hopping.
the reason being i believe is the psi on the tires, on 8/29 they were at 19psi, on 10/20 they were at 14.
I will try again next weekend at 20psi, go down to 19 and then 18 and see what i get, also will try to put in a v2 just for the hell of it (even though i like my stock intake with k&n filter.

About the tuned part, no i am not tuned, the car is running on stock header with a cat and straight pipe after that, its on a p28 crome so the butterflies stay open.
i belive with no interior + the tires actually gripping i can go down to 14.4 or maybe just a tad lower, but that'll make me happy =) [for now that is]

hmm....what clutch are you running with? lighten flywheel may be your next step.car is running good tho.. pluss rich old pal WTF you want it's still stock man you are running good. next year will be better put a lil more motor work in that baby man stop being so hard on you self. you know you are not that far from 13 only about $1000 away.

i am on a oem replacement exedy clutch and stock flywheel. Yet i believe i can achieve the time i want.

next year i wont be anywhere near 14s, say hello to lsd tranny, better clutch/fly, motor work etc. mid to low 13s will be my goal then.

maybe the track wasn't prepped as good this time, most of the time when you have a lower pressure in your tires they grip better, with the cooler weather there is more moisture in the air and if there wern't any cars running on big slicks or anything and everybody was running on street tires then there was probally more moisture on the track then there was in august when you ran it, and a lot of times tracks don't really take the time to prep them good on test and tune nights and stuff like that when they know there will be a lot of street cars running, from your tickets you can tell that you were not getting good traction because you lost .02 on your 60' times, what are the differences in the track temps on your time slips?

rich045
10-22-2007, 10:13 AM
there is no track temp, but yes like you said, traction was bad this time, the thing is, that the other forum that i go to ( plenty of civics) told me 14 psi on the eagle t/a's should be good, but keep in mind those cars weight less than us thus 14 psi = 14+ psi for our cars (my logic...)
I could be wrong but i think that was my mistake
also, there was a corvette challenge earlier that da so yea, plenty of big slicks, burn outs, etc.
plenty of cars running slicks, semi's and street tires.

also this may sound dumb but... should i go in the water (i dont have lsd) since i have semi-slicks or should i just stay away from it for now.
and should i do a burnout on 2nd instead of 1st to warm up the tires a bit more?

o yea, i noticed on my last run that i chirpped 2nd with the semi-slicks.
that tells me that either my tires weren't hot enough or there must've been something wrong with the pressure (again, i assume it was too low)

thats all. anymore info you guys would like to share?

what time was it the last time you ran it compared to this time? i still think the track could have had something to do with it, from the video it looks like it was pretty late at night when you ran and with track temp being warmer than the air, it will make the air condense onto the track, thus leaving moisture on it, the same concept of dew on grass..

ok lets see

8/29 was at 11:16 PM

Try to get your 60' to a 2.1 or better. That's what always hurts me. I'd also put the tires back to 19 since that what worked best.

get your engine tuned....jesus...whats the point of having an p28 with some map that is only a guess?

it got colder, the ecu is likely not tuned for those weather conditions which means you could either be running too rich or too lean.

just my humble opinion. Stop complaining about being slower when you arent even tuned.

lol i am just playing with it for now
about the p28, i wont be needing it later on, imo i figured if i really wanna make power i'll be needing the hondata s200.
there is no point on getting it tuned now since the euro-r manifold is not in, the header is not in, the next exhaust system is not in, etc etc

i would but i lost it... dont ask =(
trust me, if i had some of the stock parts, they would be in the car now... i tend to throw away/give away things i feel i dont need...
