Pulled over twice today. Tints.. ugh

I wish I never got tints. Anyway I was in some place called Hyde Park in upstate NY picking up a part because I didn't want to pay for shipping or NYS tax. I'm almost there when I get pulled over for my tints and exhaust.

I show the officer my paper from when I was in long island 2 years ago and got a ticket for my N1 exhaust. It was a corrective 24/hr fix it ticket. I then put a silencer on it and that was the end of that. So after showing him that paper (I now have a twin loop muffler on) and getting out the exhaust ticket, he says my tint is still illegal. (next level to limo) lol.

So on my way home after that, I'm 2 streets away from my house, and next thing you know I get pulled over again for the same exact sh*t. Once in Dutchess County and the other near my house. omg. I didn't get another ticket, but then he started asking me if I ever got in trouble for anything when I was younger, like if I ever smoked weed or anything.

Anyway, does anyone know how much the fine is or what I should do. I sure as hell can't go to court cause I have school the city. I might be able to reschedule the date maybe. Who knows. Any advice?

listen homie this is what i did...i put 50% on me fronts and left the back limmo went to court paid the stupid ticket and have not been bothered since...cuz that percent they can soem what see you and at night it looks normal.

how much did it cost? It's prolly different in NY though. My ticket says:

"Tinted side windows TLT less than 70%"

I live madd far from that court. This was in dutchess county upstate and I live 20min from nyc. Should I plead not guilty or guilty?

I have absolutely no idea of what the fine is. The ticket just has a court date on it. I could reply by mail or show up. Does anyone have an idea as to how much I should be expecting to pay?

i had got a parking ticket b.c my car broke down and they still made me pay some of it. the judge or whatever was like i have to make u pay some of it. i was like **** you.

tints in ny should be a 24hr fix also got pulld over a yr ago
u just have to remove the drvrs and psngr tints in theory bck window and others could be painted black... they just want to see the driver
dont know how much though should say on back of ticket

when i got mine in nj it was 75 with court fee...but you in ny may pay more....either stay with out the tint or if you are like me do 50% they wont really mess with you cuz they can see in your whip...once got stopped and teh cop said that tint was illegal period.....did not give me a ticket tho cuz it was not that bad and i am sure that he has on his whip...i think that law is ass cuz cop cars have that ****....thats why we know when they hit the block...duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

if limo is 2.5% then mine is like 3. or 5. haha. There was a chart at the place i got the tints at and they made me pick which ones I wanted. There was like 11 different panels. 1 being limo and 11 Being stock. This ticket had no fine on it.

yeah i think it goes limos at 2.5 then next is 5% then on up from there in the stores they sell 20% then 35%, but tintshops can order it in any incraments of 5

did he do the test idk about wear you at but thears a lil eltric thing they have to do to give u the ticket if they didnt they u can tack off the tint and put legal tint back on then you can say it legal if they gave you the ticket and did the test then ur screwed

I'd only plead not guilty if I had proof it was legal. In NY its gotta be 30% or better to be legal. You should be able to get it inspected and get a reading of what tint it is. I think my friend pleaded guilty but explained that the shop said it was legal...idk it was a while ago...$110 i think

well i know my tint is definitely illegal. It might as well be limo. I can't say that the shop told me it was legal because I signed this paper saying they aren't responsible for tickets and i understood that the tint is illegal.

OK so what should I do? plead guilty and pay by mail? or what? I called the court and they said its a $55 surcharge additional to whatever amount the is. The lady said it is usually $150. So 150+55. Anyone have any advice?

it doesn't matter if they did they test or not in NY. because you're not supposed to have tint less than 70%

and tints that are 70% or higher look clear. and mine are dark as night.

regardless. I don't have 200 bucks or any money for that matter. so right now, i'm looking for anyone parting out their ludes with no tint on their glass looking to donate a window. =)

lol my friend has 5% and we got pulled over the other night. he looks like hes 10(andy milinokas disease lol) and the cop was all talking to him like he actually was 10. he put the digital thing over the window and it said like 4 percent and they just let him off

it doesn't matter. NY and ATL are different. Walmart sells limo tint too that doesn't mean its legal. In NY, you basically cannot have tint on the front (More than 70% is practically clear). I'm basically screwed. I'm trying to find any luders who are parting out their car who's willing to donate a window so i can switch the windows out for the court date and just pay what i gotta pay. I'm gonna say not guilty and just say:

I'm a broke full time college student who drove 1 1/2 hours away from the city today to come here to see if I can get my fine reduced or thrown out. I've never been in any trouble with the law nor do have any moving violations, I have a great GPA in school and I took the tint off the front windows.

I guess thats all I can say or do.

just tack it off ur self seem a lot better then trying to get new windows and have them put on all u need is a hair dryer ,a razer blade and some glass cleaner to get all the glue off

well the reason I wanna swap the glass is because, The tint was put on so good that the glass itself actually looks like it was manufactured like that. (If anyone has seen my tint in person). Another reason is I paid for quality tints. Not no cheap 100 dollar ones. and yes there is a difference. I don't want to take off what I paid for.

tint is not plural, tints is wrong

but NC you just have to get reinspected, i.e. pay off a inspection shop to pass it

Well I would rip the tint out, take photos and go to court have the car there just in case the judge wants to see it plead innocient. Tell the judge you ripped it out once you got home and knew it was illegal (small white lie). You may end up with no fine at all, the Judge likes honesty, not someone trying to get out a ticket.

I also read your post about the police asking if you did any drugs. I don't know about up there but here in VA on I 95 north a lot of drug dealers heading north from Florida with really dark windows get stopped and with dark windows here in VA I think police have the right to search if your asked and say ok. If you say no they will arrest you and search anyway. He probably wanted probable cause to search your car.

I have tint as well but its 70% front and 35% back. Never have any trouble with police and Virginia Police are very hard of tint they have meters right on their side to measure the darkness right on spot.

The ticket in ny for tints is $90. If its a yellow ticket look at the back. It should say something like "Other Fines" or "Misc Charges" - $50 fine and a $40 Surcharge.

My friends got a lot of tickets for tints, so im pretty sure it's $90.

BTW I have 20% tints
