ok so im seriously thinking about going turbo. what im wondering is about the the build. i kno i should prolly get forged pistons, rods, and get it sleeved. am i missing anything there? but anyways, if i wanted to go with just stock compression what size pistons and rods do i need to get for an h23? i've been lookin but i cant find the sizes cuz if i get it sleeved then that would keep the stiock size, am i correct? of should i get pistonstons that would lower/raise my compression?

ok nevermind, after doing more research about turbo builds, i dont really have the money right now to build it but i would like to still turbo on stock block but run low psi to be safe. what would be a good psi range to run stock untill i can afford to build it?

haha yea, sucks that sleeving the block ALONE is close to a grand, doesnt it?! :frown: let alone some 9:1 JE pistons and eagle rods + installing. when you eventually do build the motor, you always want lower compression for any F/I engine, as opposed to NA engines that love higher compression (type S H22 for example  )

but on a stock block, 7-8psi is about the SAFE limit for H-series. i think i've heard of a couple ppl turning it up to 10psi at the track on their stock H23's, but havent followed thru with how that turned out.

when i was piecing my entire kit together, the entire time i thought was gonna be running 7psi, but the wastegate came with a 5.8lb spring instead so thats what i'm running at. but its still alooootttttttt of funnnnn    :burnout: :burnout: :burnout: :burnout:

be sure to read the first link in my siggy also

twok, first of all your "So you wanna go turbo, huh??" post is awesome. second, you use more smileys than any man should.

crap, actually... i take that statement back about 7-8psi.

psi doesnt mean anything when your looking to boost your motor. 7psi coming from a tdo5e is tottalllyyyy different than 7psi coming from a gt35r. its all about how much POWER you wanna make, than you pair the correct sized turbo with the motor and go from there.

BUTT, if you wanna be like 75% of all turbo honda owers and get a t3/t4 57 trim, thats like the perfect sized turbo to run 7pounds on and has very good spool and kick.

yea the turbo im looking into is a t4. i seen the dude on preludepower selling it for a while back before i was scared of going turbo til i seen a guy runnin 6.2psi on a stock h23 and i said hell im going with that!! so now im real serious about it. just gotta get my mom to agree

wait.. is it a t4?? or a t3/t4??

cuz a straight t4 is a huuuuge turbo on a stock H23

ok i just went back and looked and its t04, im not sure if thats the same thing but yea. not sure about all them numbers. is that a good one? its a borg warner

hmm, hopefully its the t3/to4b (aka t3/t4) cuz those are very common turbos for hondas to use. can you get any more specs on it? inducer, exducer, trim, a/r?? the a/r is usually stamped right on the hot side housing,

i havent gotten the kit in yet, i gotta wait til i ahve the money, around the end of the month. but the guy said it was a borg warner t04. is it a big problem with my engine? like would it take a long time to spool? if its really that big of an issue i could jsut sell it and get the super 60 trim t3, ive heard good things about that. wouldnt the manifold and wastegate and all from the t04 be the same as the t3? i always see advertising for t3/t4 manifolds, or is that for the hybrid turbo?

aight heres what the dude sellin me the kit said

Yeha it's a t3/4 flange so any t3, t4 or t3/4 will bolt up. T04b Vtrim (300whp-480whp)
This unit flows 48lbs a minute
54.20mm inducer
67.60mm exducer

so im thinking i could sell the turbo and get a t3 or jsut keep the t4 and get a t3 until i can build and crank the boost up

actually....
it sounds pretty similar to this turbo
http://www.dsmparts.com/customer/product.php?productid=553&cat=166&page=1

and if it is indeed that turbo, thats very similar to my t3/t4 which is aweesomeeeee

thats good news to hear. but it says its for higher horspepower and psi, would running like 6-8 on a stock block be efficient on it?

boosted H22's are great ... very fun motors

hardwhite
09-21-2007, 06:00 AM
yea that was the original plan until i started realizing how much it would cost for me to swap in an h22 then turbo. but im sure boosted h23's and great too

hardwhite
09-26-2007, 09:32 PM
i was just thinking. supposedly the t3/t4 reaches boost at about 5k, and my h23 redlines like 6.2k i think, somewhere in that area, so im not in boost for that long then? where do you reach full boost on yours?

twokexlv6coupe

there's so many different sizes of t3/t4's its not even funny. but my t3/t4 57 trim reaches full boost around 4300. 40 trims will reach full boost alot sooner, while 60+ trims while reach boost later than that. thats why turbo sizing is essential to maximize power but minimize lag.

the only thing it says about my trim is vtrim, im not even sure what that is

check out the last post in my turbo thread, it explains it.

you said theres different trim sizes for the t3/t4's though right? how come mine just says vtrim. does it have jsut one size? its hard finding info on my turbo, i been trying all day
