So yea guys...I finally took my 96 Impala SS down to MD International for Midnight Madness last night...Not too impressive, but I didn't embarrass myself. All I have done is a K&N Filter, TB Bypass, 160 Tstat, and Flowmaster American Thunder. Keep in mind, this is my first time running the 1/4. So here goes nothin'...

First Run (with passenger, spare tire, lots of unnecessary ****):

RT: .714 (wasn't paying attention...too worried about the 12 sec. 5.0 Mustang next to me)
60': 2.328
330: 6.573
1/8: 9.969
mph: 72.29
1000: 12.892
1/4: 15.373
mph: 90.75

Second Run (w/o passenger or unnecessary crap):

RT: .401
60': 2.484
330: 6.664
1/8: 10.020
mph: 72.16
1000: 12.901
1/4: 15.356
mph: 91.69

What i thought was interesting was the fact that in the first run...terrible reaction time, but everything was faster up until after the 1000ft marker...interesting?

Not bad at all!

Isn't the SS the LT1 motor? something like 270hp & like 350tq? Sik, i thought they were more for low end than high end hp, proved wrong with your slips...

Yea, stock theyre 260hp at about 5000 and 330lb/ft at around 2000. Big car. TWO TONS OF AMERICAN FURY! lol But...with what ive done...im more impressed by the massive low end torque that car has. I pray for the dignity of any little jackass in a civic or the like who tries to get me from a 40 mph roll.
And 255 series tires...traction isnt an issue.

Chill, if i see an Impala SS roll up i chill out asap!

First, your car looks like a DT car(cops).
Second, you'll wax a lot of cars on the street easily!!!

Now that i'm rereading your mods, your car has to rumble!
You should get the bottle and spray. It's a moral imperative i have to say.

Yea man....i quickly realized that those cars are relatively unknown to the "ricer" community...and ive easily mopped the floor with plenty of integras, and civics...and took down my friend Cory in his 95 prelude and his "fast and the furious" style neon green civic with neons and body kits and wing and whatever else.
Actually...before i had done anything to that car..i was headed down 301. And a kid in a 5.0 with open headers and a roll cage and a big obnoxious shift light pulled up to the light next to me...he got me off the line...Old tires = no traction. i wont make excuses...his car was just plain lighter and faster...We raced again from about 65...and i pulled about 2 lengths on him until i got scared and let off at about 135. Funny thing is...it pulled harder once it hit 3rd at 120.

You shouldn't be picking on Civic/Integras lol, you should be going after the bigger boys like GTO's, M class BMW's, AMG Mercedes, Corvettes etc. Mitsubishi EVO's and STI's should be in your crowd too.

how much does the Impala SS weight at?

GTOs? Beemers? AMG's? Corvettes? Evos? STis? Are you nucking futs?! Those are all in either the 13s or 14s...I cant hang with that...
I might be able to after the winter time...LT4 HOT cam kit....probably about 40 hp to the wheels...whenever i get enough money for it. But yea...with me (170), a little smidgen over 4200lbs

Although, now that I think about it...I did race a 96 LT1 Vette about 2 years ago...i ate him up through first gear, but we hit 2nd and he was gone. I knew i was gonna lose...I just thought it was funny, cuz i caught him off guard with my boat.

Damn, 4200lbs. :tape2:

I didn't realize your power to weight.
Will this cam make more top end power though?

can u use other geared transmissions?

Indeed it will. But it will also pump the torque up a bit (obviously).

Im sure I could...but I dont have the money for a transmission. I could also pull the rear end gears out (3.08) And swap 'em for 3.42 or 3.73. But i also dont have the money for that. I used to know a guy around here that took the 4L60E out and dropped in a T56 6 speed from a Corvette...It was quite an impressive piece of machinery, to be honest. With a few other mods it put down low to mid 14s all day long
