I wanted to find out if anyone has done the HID conversion on their 5th gen and if yall have had any problems with it? I was told that it might get too hot for the headlamp. And what other brands besides Hella are good?

all ebay hid kits are about the same. I would look at some german hid kits.

you might want to buy it from a local store for warranty purposes.

I wouldn't do it unless you feel like blinding everybody else. HID's have a different light pattern than a stock bulb, whatever you use, and most HIDs are contained in a projector headlight housing for this reason specifically. All the 'extra' light gets bounced around inside the projector and isn't allowed to travel upwards. HIDs in a factory non projector housing= you're going to blind the crap out of everybody with a lot of glare. Instead, have you looked into HIRs? It uses the infrared energy of the bulb to reflect it back onto the filament, which boosts light output by 20-30%, providing a look close to HIDs for only $30-50 or so.

HIDs dont blind people... Unless you buy stolen hids and silicone them in. I have HID's on my 4G and looked at it from the far and from close, doesn't blind anyone at all. As long as u buy PLUG-N-PLAY kits, you'll be all good.

Uh, no you won't be all good. That's why they aren't DOT approved kits, because HIDs require an entirely different reflector design from a normal 9005 or 9006 incandescent bulb. Lighting up and 'working correctly' are two entirely different things. The glare from your car is probably pretty obnoxious.

I love my HID conversion...I have had no one to flash their high beams back to me, so I know I am not blinding anyone. Also the light output is amazing. I have 8000k H1. Yes mine are DOT approved, and 100% legit.

No HID kit is DOT approved for use in standard bulb headlight housings. It's hacked together, and will NOT pass decent inspection.

I really doubt you know more than Daniel Stern about automotive lighting. I suggest you read this:

http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/Hid/conversions/conversions.html

"So you've read about HID headlamps and have it in mind to convert your car. A few mouse clicks on the web, and you've found a couple of outfits offering to sell you a "conversion" that will fit any car with a given type of halogen bulb. STOP! Put away that credit card.

An HID kit consists of HID ballasts and bulbs for "retrofitting" into a halogen headlamp. Often, these products are advertised using the name of a reputable lighting company ("Real Philips kit! Real Osram kit! Real Hella kit!") to try to give the potential buyer the illusion of legitimacy. Fact: While some of the components in these kits are sometimes manufactured by the companies mentioned, the components aren't being put to their designed or intended use. Reputable companies like Philips, Osram, Hella, etc. NEVER endorse this kind of "retrofit" usage of their products.

Halogen headlamps and HID headlamps require very different optics to produce a safe and effective—not to mention legal—beam pattern. How come? Because of the very different characteristics of the two kinds of light source."

Read the whole article. It'll make you smarter, I promise.

x2 on everyone who said your blinding people and they are illegal.

You will get a ticket from a pissed off cop.

there is nothing to control the light and thus it overflows out of your headlights glaring everywhere. To make HIDs legal you can retrofit projectors into your prelude and it will look 20000 times better and you wont get hassled because a) your not blinding anyone anymore and b)your now legal.

I run a HID business with my cousin and we adress this to all of our customers.
