I'm willing to bet it's blown Apex seals. Probably there's damage to the housings, so the motor is no good, especially being that old just sitting there. Whatever you do, do NOT put any kind of motor with a piston in it. It would be blasphemy.

There's 3 around me I could get for possibly free or nothing. One of them supposedly runs but the transmission is out of it so I don't know. All 3 of them are 85's and they're all GREAT shells, and the one that run,s the interior looks almost new. They all need paint but the body's have no damage. I want one for free. Watch, in 5 years, I'll be the wanna-be mechanic up the road with a graveyard full of RX-7's that I "plan" to restore, and refuse to use several to just get one running because I don't want to destroy it because it's so beautiful.
