My 83 Toyota Wagon 4wd has been the most trusted vehicle we've owned for many years now. There have always been little things here and there but it was always a sure thing that it'll get you where you needed to go. I trusted this damn car more than any other car we own!! And it's our oldest and highest mileaged car at 245k miles.

My Honda has been acting up these past few days because of the carburetors again. So i had to take the trusty Toyota. No problem. I'm driving down the road enjoying the different experience of driving another car besides my Honda. The car starts to choke a bit, and i don't hear the engine responding to my foot. I shift lower to see if it helps. I'm slowing down then all the lights turn on, she died. . .

I rolled into a quiet neighborhood and try to crank the engine. It turns and turns, but doesn't catch. What can it be? I lift the hood, there isn't much to see end everything is intact. Then it hit me, the one thing that I've been meaning to check for some time now. . .Timing belt. . .

It has been a very sad night. For over 5 years this car has taken us everywhere. I never worried that she'd let me down. Clean the battery terminals once in awhile and i knew i was good to go whenever i needed another car to get the job done. We've gotten ahold of about 4 new cars since we got the Toyota, each newer than the last and i never trusted any of them as much!!

Right now my trusted Toyota sits in some neighborhood. . .it's an upper class area so she looks way outta place. I hope she'll be there tomorrow!!

Here's a nice shot of her for those who don't know what i'm talkin bout!

It's cool, just got my baby fixed today! I swear it's a great feeling fixing your own car. . .

The timing belt teeth were ripped off! It was a damn pain but she's running again. =D

I got a car for school, and to get me around. Some things are still needed but, she's good. http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/froehlich/d055.gif

Glad that was it and no further damage was done. Even the backup is ****in clean dude, especially for being so old. How do you do it man?

Yeah no doubt man. Had a blown fuse so the car wouldn't start. I was wondering what it was. Stupid fuses, always the last thing i check. . .

Got the fuse today, tightened some hoses for the radiator. And she's back to her old self! Maybe a lil faster.

Believe it or not, my father was the third owner of this car. He trashed it though. I spent two days cleaning it up when he handed it to me after 5 years (maybe 4). I had to fix the locks and doors as they couldn't open. Take out all the trash inside. Bunch of old spark plugs bolts cd roms clothes. Everything i swear!! I had a hell of a time cleaning this baby up.

So yeah, it's an old car. But i'm damn proud to keep it looking clean and in top shape!

Tell me about it man. These simple Toyota's are great, so easy to repair when something goes wrong. So far. =P

I've been racing this thing around the streets like i'm in a damn rally, burning rubber left and right. It's like nothing ever happened!!! I'm so glad there wasn't anything damaged because of the timing belt!

well they're certainly not non-interference engines. The guy who had my car before I bought it said it broke at 101K and had to have some valves replaced. I dunno why he didn't port and polish and make the head all fancy for me. :(

^ probably because he knew the car would eventually go to a spoiled little georian white boy that has two cars. lol

He actually had no intentions of selling. I guess I should be greatful cause it had new tires, oil change, timing belt, water pump, window moulding, headgasket, and starter and only cost $5K. Only thing really wrong with it is the clutch needs replacing soon.

He was starting up a business and was selling anything of value he didn't need and didn't think he'd get much for his Pathfinder.

Yes the engine is a non-interference one. I'm glad we got it fixed so fast.
