Hey guys, my engine bay is horrably dirty, so I'll be cleaning it shortly. I plan on using "Simple Green Extreme." Apparently it is designed for cleaning aircraft, and is non-corrosive unlike regular simple green. I've heard really good things about it on superhonda.com, so once it gets here in the mail, I'm gonna do it up and post some before and afters, and maybe a product review. Anyone ever use this stuff before?

ah cool..actually i did do this big engine clean up thing (no wire tuck jsut cleaning) and i think i just used engine gunk..that foamy stuff...from what i had read in the past it was fine and compares with the simple green stuff. i dont know in particular about simplre green extreme but i think they all generally get the job done...you will WANT a steel brush etc..infact get the brush kit haha...if your car is really dirty like mine....
i took lots of pics months ago for write up but didnt get a chance to post anything yet =/. ill try to get that up if anyone needs it.
but again, the simple green brand is great from what ive heard...cant go wrong with it..

You can always try the pressure washer at DIY car washes too. just take it easy near the alternator, starter, and fuse panel.

That's actually one of the worst things you could do. Anything that leaves a residue will attract dirt. It's what used car lots use to make the engine look cleaner and a week later your engine bay has sticky crap everywhere.

I cringe at that, lol.
If you have the time, clean the engine bay by hand. Use simple green, or simple orange etc.
Get a can of carb cleaner and shoot away some crap in hard to reach places.
I cleaned my engine by hand, took me a while but in the end it was worth it.

Yeah I used the Simple Green today (no scrubbing, just spray and rinse) and it worked AWESOME. I'm gonna put some pics up in the "product review" forum. The difference it made is simply night and day.

Yeah, I can't wait to get back in there this weekend and scrub lol. I still haven't been able to find my vacuum leak, but I think it's at my intake manifold gasket now, so this upcoming weekend I'll be tearing it down a bit to replace my TB and IM gaskets. I plan on cleaning everything that I can get to by hand while I'm in there.
