Differences between the 'base' and the 'SH'
SH comes with: Rear spoiler with brake light, no brake light in rear window,
body coloured side-skirts and rear skirt, ATTS, straight 5 spoke 16 inch wheels
as opposed to the "chinese star" 5 spoke wheels of the same size. Courtesy lights on the door
interior, oil filter is in a slightly different place and struts/springs.

One good explanation of the ATTS from internetautoguide.com
"Honda calls it the Active Torque Transfer System (ATTS), and it seems likely to take front-drive performance cars another step closer to parity with their rear-drive competitors in terms of absolute handling. ATTS distinguishes the standard Prelude from the SH model.
Here's how it works. When a front-drive car hustles around a corner, its front tires have to perform an extra function--power transfer--that the front tires on a rear-driver don't. That's why even very good-handling front-drive cars like the Prelude are more prone to understeer than their rear-drive counterparts.
Understeer describes a car's resistance to turn-in. The faster the entry speed to a given corner, the more the car wants to go straight ahead.
ATTS addresses this trait through a clever set of mechanical functions that automatically transfers available engine torque--as much as 80%--to the outside front wheel, and also increases its rotational speed by as much as 15%.
Putting the extra power into the outside front wheel, which typically bears the heaviest load in hard cornering, compensates for the extra load and restores balance.
It's a typical Honda solution to a problem no one else has really managed to solve--and it works."

H22 Type-S

For the sake of it:

AUDM Preludes - 1997-2001

Si
Engine - F22 non VTEC
Equipment - Analogue air conditioning, power windows, power mirrors. Everything else was optional.

VTi-R
Engine - H22Z/H22A4 (147kW / 212Nm ATF)
Equipment - Sunroof, digital climate control, rear spoiler, cruise control, power windows, power mirrors. OEM kit and leather were both optional. The optional auto was the notorious SS tranny, though problems with them have not been known to occour often with Honda Australia only admitting to a handful of promlems.

VTi-R ATTS
As with the VTi-R, but included is the ATTS gearbox and OEM Kit as standard. 99-01 models had the JDM Type S spoiler fitted. Leather was still an option.

No AUDM fifth gen was 4WS, and all were the BB6 chassis code.

Note the omission of fog lights, adjustable headlamps, heated mirrors, etc. which none of were even offered here.
I think taht's it, if I think of anything else I"ll add it.

Yeah, but the SH weighs nearly 100 lbs. more and sits higher. The SH is much harder to find parts for, and they are certainly more expensive. Plus, the base is usually cheaper, lighter ,and has a larger parts selection.

almost all the parts that work on the base model will work on the SH:cool: .

The main different between the base and the sh is the transmission. other than that there aren't too many differences.

They don't share the same front suspension knuckes and radius rods.

Also, even though they have the same engine designation, the blocks are slightly different, ie. the oil filter locations.

they don't share the same front axles either. The driveshaft is a little different aswell.

plus 10 for you edge to life

you got it reversed. SH's have ATTS, and bases dont. hence the name "base"

the base models are lighter than the sh because of the atts...and the oil capasity is 5 quarts!?!?! DAMN!!! thats why ive been havin to change my oil earlier than the expected.(been puttin in 4qts.)
