My alternator is not bad per say, but the bearings are.
The previous owner serviced this at some shop unknown to me.
The mechanic overtighted the tensioner bolt, or didn't measure it properly
This is the outcome:

If you can hear the high pitched WHINE...a lot like a turbo car spooling up...i've been asked numerous questions if my car is turbo'ed. It's loud.
So FYI, always make sure you tighten your accesory belts to factory spec!
note: Digital camera. I know, very bad audio & video

It's common with 3gs. I dont know why. Mustardcat on prelude3g.com said he's got it too, but slightly.

yeah i have that problem on my 91 b21a1 but the altinator is still working fine, it just sounds like it's boosted because of the wine, i have a new one for it but i havent had the time to replace it and probally wont get around to doing it until it leaves me stranded. which hopefully it wont

That doesn't sound like it's boosted, at all. It just sounds like there's a serious problem. If it was turbo'd, and he was smart when turboing it, he'd have a blowoff valve, wastegate, or both, and you'd hear a woosh sound when the let off the pressure. Believe me, I own a 92 Eclipse FWD turbo.

Monkey, thank you for sharing your wonderful experties on what a turbo sounds like, great explination it really was, but i think everyone already knows what a blowoff valve sounds like, but anyways, change the altenator cause mine finally went out on me :( but i had the other one already so it worked out, but it went out on me in downtown charleston and i was stuck in the ghetto for 2 hours waiting on my dad to come with the trailer!

Lol that made me laugh... I'm glad you responded to that and not me... I wouldn't have been so polite lol.
Lol "He'd have a blow off valve, wastegate, or both"... I'd hope he has a wastegate lol.... Kid... you're not trying to compare a blow off valve and a wastegate are you? You do realize that they are not the same thing right? Believe me, I own a brain...
Also, it's nice to see that you are comfortable enough to come onto a site, and with 14 posts you are already insulting the inteligence of someone who is not only a mod, but possibly the most respected, and well-liked member of this entire site...
Edit:...... Dammit... I am a retard... this thread has obviously been dead for about 2 years now lol.
