just thought i'd share the story, and get my post count up so i can post better pics of my gen 5 :P
Early 2005, I was driving my clean (stock) 94' Lude to work. Im in San Diego and I work nights, so it was about 11:30PM. Im on the 94 West, and hit the connector to the 805 north, two lane connector, I'm in the left lane. I was speeding, going maybe 70, when I come up on a car stopped in the middle of the two lanes. Unfortunately it was semi blind steady curve, and suddenly I was upon this car, so I swerved left, avoided the car, swerved back to the right, but unfortunately not in time, I clipped a full sized dodge truck, starting at my front driver side fender (any closer and I would have really regretted it, or possibly died :/). At any rate my poor lude was totalled, and I guess I broke the real axle of the truck.
I was pissed at the time, because I was 'at fault', even tho it turns out that the car in the middle of the two lanes was left there by a drunk driver who lost control and hit the guardrail, then got out. The truck was a passerby who stopped to help. But looking back, obviously glad nobody was hurt, because I WAS at fault, I should not have been going that fast on that freeway connector since it was a bit of a blind turn. So alas, I have learned my lesson. If you must speed, make sure you are always prepared for the unpreparable, and just imagine that right out of your vision on that blind curve you are on are 15 dump trucks stopped right in the way :).
The car was totaled, btw. The impact in the front did a lot of damage, and then it tore up the whole side of the car.
Good news is I'm still very happy with my 2000 SH I picked up shortly after this wreck.
Edit: I'll try and find pics
