Ok this was done on my 5th gen prelude,
For neon tube lights-
step one , find a cheap place to buy neon cold cathode tube lights ( AKA computer neon) most packs come with two and are reletivly inexpencive, I went to radio shack to get mine 1 pack x2 tubes = 20.00 dollars ! cheap !!!
Ok this is what you do first step
Detach battery negative - This is a must or you will blow fuse white turning lights on and off
once you get the 2 cathode lights of your desired color there are two wires that come out white wire and black wire, and they go into a peice of plastic that harnes'es your wiresin the computer its a adapter. cut the wire before the adapter you are left with 2 lights 1 switch and two wires attatched to nothing.
take plastic cover off radio modual in prelude, take radio out completely. being ciggerette adapter is two wires a negative and a positive take the white wire from the cold cathode lights the
Take the white wire and unplug ciggerette + wire the one that has the plastic harness peice on it. and put the wite wire inside the harness and then reconnect the harness into the adapter.
then take the black wire and under the drivers side on the right side of the center consol twords the radio is a peice of carpet that can be removed its shaped as a werid triangle. There is a screw that is the ground , connect the black wire to this screw.
now all that is left is to place the lights and place the switch
Lights are the easiest I chose under my glove box on passenger side and behind wires under wheel on drivers side , this allowes me to light up the front floor on both sides ! The switch i ran to the back of the center consol on that flat plastic peice where cup holders should come out in back of car if they had them. And i cut a square big enough to hold the switch that came with the lights and i installed it there ,
unscrew the left botton side of carpet on center consol and run wires through there. and up into behind radio.
The fuse for this project is the Interior lights fuse i think it is number 15 under the hood. My 97 lude took a 15 fuse and my 2001 took a 10 fuse. You have extras in the car incase of a mistake.
LED LIGHTS in vents DIY
to run LEd lights in vents ,
step 1 remove vents , Take a small flat head screw driver and put in slot of vent now lift up to remove vents all vents in prelude are snapped in, not screwed so be very carefully not to break snaps , after you have removed 1 side vents remove center vent with clock remove the two wire sets from back of vent.
Depending on the size led that you use i would suggest 5mm high intensity bulbs.
regular bulbs are running about 2volts and the Blues and whites run at around 4 volts.
We are going to use ciggerete adapter to power thease lights this meens we have 12volts of powwer going to thease little led lights.
You have two options , option 1 buy led lights and resistors or option 2 buy 12volt ready led lights with resistors installed already. I say go with step 2 less expencive and easier to do. Alot of websites sell 12volt ready led lights.
get a drill and drill a small hole able to hold led light holder and light.
run all negative wires to one wire and run to bolt on drivers side under carpet.
take 1 wire run all + to a switch and then run the switch to the ciggerette adapter.
reinstall vents and flip the switch and now let there be light.
This was the easiest way that i could explain it without pictures i will post them as soon as i can today.
