Project F22 Has Begun

ok as some of you may know ive been talking about doin a boosted F22 build. so yesterday was kinda a dead day at work and what not so i took the day off and pulled in my 91, the motor was pretty much hashed with a B21a1, the #3 cylinder connecting rod snapped in the block.... so i figured hey why not i have a second lude and my F22 sitting here. well the roomate and i pulled the car into the garage and started to tear into the little puppy and yanked the motor and the fenders and bumper. now i know some of you are asking why i pulled the fenders and bumper, well because iam the kinda guy that doenst like to take a risk at damaging good pieces. the bumper had to be takin off anyways since ill be boosting the new motor... anyways here is a few shots of the motor being pulled in process of... ill keep ya updated with new pix as they come... next is to clean the engine bay of un-needed crap and all that oil.... since iam doin all this work the car is gonna have a new paint scheme as well so we shall wait and see lol.... oh and if anyone wants some B21 parts hit me up.... ill be selling everything except the head, thats for my other lude:biggrin:

ive yet to tear down the B21.... ive been busy getting my 89 cleaned up today.... since were having a lude meet here on saturday and today is the only free time..... ill let you know soon as i find out tho

to be completely honest, i wish i had an F22b in my prelude instead of the H23 :redface: iron walls >>> FRM walls
stock F22's can already handle like 10 pounds daily, let alone a built one with forged internals :redface: :frown:

ok well its been a slow process but small update..... i started to clean up the engine bay with some degresser and getting rid of crap thats not needed.... i will take pix tomorrow.... and here is a couple of pics of the intercooler my buddy threw my way for a donation towards it.....the intercooler is for a SR20DET, and he needed a CA18DET (the company that he ordered it from told him to just keep the SR one).... so just to give you an idea how big this intercooler is, its sitting next to a 2 liter of Mtn Dew (the nectar of the gods)

my buddy is out of state so i dont have it in possesion yet to do a comparison to the radiator support, or didnt get "true" demensions, but its a 3" in and out....and its free so i cant complain

that IC is HUUUUGEEEEE!! :eek:

you better be pushin at LEAST 300hp to use that IC, or else you'll hafta a hefty amount of pressure loss across that thing if you're only pushin a small amount of boost.

Sounds like a bitchin project. Can't wait to see more progress. Better get some simple green and clean that engine bay out while you can :D I wish I did when I swapped my motor.

i think i spent more time cleaning my engine bay when i had the motor out than doing anything else, but the ***** is clean! but good luck with the project UB, can't wait to see some numbers on the dyno!!

hahaha thanks guys....ya ill be spending some time on this project, do it right!! my idea is to just drop in a used F22 to get the fit process of everything and to get all the electrical flaws worked out.... then on the side iam gonna build a complete F22 with all the goods and then do the swap and crank the boost... MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA:biggrin:

i have a 89 which is my daily driver and then i have my 91 which is the project car.....and no need to do interior, they both are FLAWLESS!!!

ok well i managed to squeeze some time out to the garage today to start workin some more on the lude.... i had to pull the head off the B21 to give to a buddy of mine so he can get his GF's lude goin, here is a few pix of what the inside of the pistons looked like soon as i took the head off... ahhh scary if you ask me.... oh well block will make an nice coffee table

after i got the B21 all wrapped up and out of the way,i started to clean up the engine bay, got rid of AC lines (yes i dispossed of the coolant the proper way lol)... ditched the heater lines, got rid of the overflow canister, windsheild washer res..... then i tackled up some dead wires for the horns and whatever wasnt needed (windsheild pump).... then i started to tackle the engine bay with gasoline (stuff works great i tell ya, just be safe with well ventilation... iam still kinda dizzy lol)i cleaned up the right side by tucking some wires and some relays, and on the left side i still need to tuck some hoses, but iam not gonna stress it to much untill i get the F22 dropped in so i know how everything will fit.... here is some snap shots i took real quick before i wrapped up for the night, enjoy!

ok small update... well i got my intercooler thanks to my buddy and then also the 450cc injectors.... so i thought id take a few snap shots of the intercooler for ya to give ya ppl an idea what iam up against here... i already have a feeling cooling issues shall be address :lol: ..... time to start searching for a much bigger radiator or a better spot for my intercooler (as you will see below not to much room to mess with).... well enjoy!!

update??? well i guess i have none.... the last two days ive been autocrossing my 89.... so the 91 has been just sitting there collecting dust.... i hafta wait for atleast another three weeks before i can afford to order AZ motor mounts.... then ill be able to make some more progress.... i mean i can take some pix of the 450cc DSM injectors if you want me to:biggrin:

ok time for yet another update.....

anyways i have a buddy that is going bigger with his turbo setup in his 93 Mazda RX7 FD..... well apparently he is going big or for broke.... it literally blew up on the dyno and dropped off in the mid 400 range.... sucky....

so he has been buying parts left and right for awhile including a larger turbo.... so i asked about his old one.... OBX 64 trim .92 ar T4... soo anyways i managed to talk him into selling it and well i picked the turbo up and a nitrous kit (all parts needed to hook it up) for a grand total of..... $500
