Ball Joint or Bushing?

I have an intersting squeak coming from the front driver side of the lude. It sounds like a metal to metal rub, or even like spring squeak. My neighbor is a diesel mechanic and he says its a ball joint. My friends say it sounds like a bushing. What do you guys think?

It could be both. Take off your wheel and look how worn the bushings are. Probably after all these years, most likely they are kaput.

I went out last night and checked it out more. Ended up being my drivers side lower control arm bushing. Its dang near gone! Thanks for the help.
