Passing emissions in CA

Hey guys, I'm new here but have been reading for quite some time. I drive a 2000 lude with i/h/e and Jackson racing supercharger. I'm planning on doing some boost upgrades with a hondata and a boost upgrade pulley. The problem is these things will keep me from passing smog.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get ur car to pass smog with this type of stuff? I know there are quite a few people driving around ca with turbo setups, and I would hate to have to pull the whole thing apart each year. Can anyone suggest a friendly smog shop in central cali or so cal? i'm located in san luis obispo.

Can't help you there man.

I hear cats usually take their set-ups off every two years for the test. Seems like a hassle, but I find it more honest than payin' 'em off, Ace. . .lol jk

What are you using for Engine Management? They are only going to pass you if you have your stock computer in (at least in my state and know CA is pretty strict). My 98 lude is boosted with an AEM EMS system, 550cc injectors, Forged Pistons, ect. What my shop had to do was put the stock injectors in, put the stock ECU in, and tie open the turbo waste gate. After that my shop got my car to pass no problem (Readiness test and all). I also know of another way to pass the readiness test, but I don't know if it will work with a super charger.

Oh, I just saw Hondata in your post. That's never going to work. You need to go with Greddy Emanage or a another piggy back option. I'm pretty sure CA uses OBDII readiness test to pass cars manufactured after 1996. That being said you need your Stock ECU to pass. Also, if CA uses sniffer testing you are going to need to
1. Get a CAT to swap in when you go for inspection
2. Make sure you have an additional tune done with low emissions that you can upload to the ECU.
