a h22z1 never ever heard of that one. Whats the specs on da motor?

Specs are exactly as the H22A4 as far as I know. The H22Z was basically the castings that were in the spare parts storage area, and late 99/early 2000 somebody on the engine assembly line thought "****, we've run out of H22A blocks!" and somebody, presumably from middle management with lots of pens in his/her top pocket said "Just use those blocks in teh spare parts pile."

...you forgot to add your DIY gas-strut trunk hinges.

No I didn't.

Thanks all for the comments. As you can see by the list of future mods, I'm no where near finished, but getting there as quickly as funding allows.

Ideally we need somewhere between 45 and 55, but for the sake of 3mm I wasn't going to argue. If it becomes a problem I'll just roll the guards a little bit. Though I'm confident of no problems.

Good point...but everytime I look at my fender gaps I wonder how I'm going to get away with wider/less positive offest wheels given my ride height. There just doesn't seem like much room to play with. Stock is 55...and your wheels are out 13mm more plus the extra rim width 12.7mm (half of 1 inch) Hmmm what should I do...

You should consider getting racing seats. The red ones would totally flow with ur design in your car.

As long as your overall tyre height doesn't change you shouln't be too hard pressed. There's a little nib in the plastic guard liner on the rear that causes trouble, but that's a ten second job to get rid of that with a pair of side cutters. (The nib, not the guard liner)

You should consider getting racing seats. The red ones would totally flow with ur design in your car.

There's a number of reasons why they're not in there. The main one is that a Recaro out of DC2R doesn't fit my arse in between the side bolsters. (Honda argued that the Integra went on a diet during the Type R treatment, prospective drivers must do the same) A DC5R Recaro does, but they don't just bolt straight in. Well, neither of them bolt straight in, but the DC5R ones need more work I'm told.

The second reason is the money. Best case scenario it's gonna cost me $1000 for the seats, then I've gotta get rails, then I've gotta get an engineer to sign off on the installation of the seats and rails. Probably another couple of hundred dollars there. Right now, I want suspension and exhaust more.'

Third reason, (and the one that makes the most sense to me) is that with the tan leather seats gone, the red ones would stand out like dog's balls. I would have to retrim the entire interior in red velour. That would include the head lining, centre console and dash, which all match the leather. No, I couldn't just retrim the Recaros in leather. That's just not done. And of course I could just leave it as it is, but the two tone interior would drive my absolutly bonkers.

The fourth reason is that there's no real reason for me to have them. I mean yes, I do take the car up the twisties occasionally (read: nowhere near as often as I'd like to) and yes, they would benefit me greatly in that environment. But this car gets driven every day. It handels jobs from the peak hour grind into work, the weekly shopping trip, visiting ailing grand parents, long distance interstate drives and everything else you can imagine.

The Recaros would probably be more trouble than their worth in most of those situations.

And possibly even more importantly, they make it incredibly hard to lean out the window to pay for McDonalds.

^ brash they make leather racing seats that will fit our cars. I have the sparco milano prestige leather racing seats. and yes, they do come in tan.

sorry for thread jackin earlier about my rim sizes!

Ow I see now I guess that I didn't think about that. One other question why does everyone or I guess you get the gold enkei's?Just wondering

Brash22
05-26-2007, 01:36 AM
Got the gold rims purly because that was the look I wanted the car to have. Had the car been white (like I wanted), I would've had these rims:
http://www.buddyclub.com.au/2007/p1r/p1r_hypergold_img/p1_hg.jpg
Though despite BuddyClub constantly telling us that they prefer playing with Hondas, they don't make anything to fit mine.

And Og, do the Sparcos fit straight in? Because even after all the reasons, I'd still love them one day. (And don't worry about the thread jacking, it happens mate.)

dillon
05-26-2007, 03:04 PM
Ya I love those wheels. The enkei's right?I liked the gold on your I was just curious why everyone got the gold.Purely what I saw wasn't because of the color contrast or at least in my opinion they weren't because I've seen blue, silver, black, and of course red ludes with them. They were also alway's enkei's aswell.

The sparcos do fit straight in. you have to get brackets from wedge engineering. They are the most comfortable/ supportive seats I've ever sat in.

dillon
05-27-2007, 08:08 PM
But what's the cost difference.I got a parts catalog in the mail and it had racing seats for $130.I know they weren't a real know name but they still worked ya know.Their practically the same (without the brand name) but five times less.

Brash22
05-27-2007, 09:48 PM
Gotta have the real deal mate. It's not just a brand snobbery thing (though I do sorta like that!) but it's a quality thing. I know that if I have a crash then a Sparco or Recaro will live through it to see another day. But a JJR copy possibly wouldn't.

I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for.

Ya I guess I never thought about that. They may look like the real deal but that's all on the outside. So how much do the sparco's run for. Those are the one's that I really wanted the other's looked like them so I figured I would save a couple hundred and go generic but never mind that lol.

all depends on which model sparco u get. the milano prestige (leather) cost around $900/ seat + brackets.

On an otherwise stock engine it sure is. My initial impression from sticking it into D for dopey and just planting my foot was "holy crap it didn't do that before!"

The thing pulls a lot more from down low, but doesn't sacrifice the top end at WOT. And it's as quiet as the stocker. The real difference is probably more, since the auto gear ratios are taller than an average basketballer, but that's something I'll change when the auto breaks...

Essentially because I'll say I'm getting *********** and then read "but ********** are so much better!" then we have a sort of suspension whinge thread, which I want to avoid. PZ is a friendly place, and I wanna do what I can to keep it that way!

Permission granted. Let me know how it goes.

You know, if you get the shock tower cover thingys, you can use a Type S front strut bar, if you wanna keep to some Honda parts.

I know that, but I'll leave the Neuspeed on partly because it's better (it's solid, so less movement) and partly because I've already got the Neuspeed and cbf sourcing a genuine one.

Genuine Honda parts are good, but importing a Type S wouldn't be that hard or costly, so when it comes to the crunch, rather than trying to turn my car into a Type S copy it'd be easier to just import the real deal. There's a few JDM bits that I wanted/still want but I'm not into selling my left nut for a part that was on a genuine JDM car.

And I got one of my boxes on Friday, so now I only have one box on it's way from the US. And finally, Small Car Sunday is here this weekend! I'm entering with some mates from PA, so keep your eyes open for a HUGE coverage from yours truly in the Picture data base!

Clearing the indicators is on my to do list. As for JDM fogs, probably not. Too much effort for not enough gain. I've gone to a huge effort to make my car look different, so I don't think I"ll be putting the same fog lights as everybody else on anytime soon.

Good eye!
I think if I ever put any sticker on my car's body, it'd be a DOHC VTEC sticker like on the 99ish Civic Si's on the side.

And while it's not something I'm happy with, it's an update nonetheless, so here are the latest pics, taken last night.

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/brash22/IMG_4961.jpg

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/brash22/IMG_4964.jpg

She was parked at the front of the carpark building in the cbd, supposedly the safest park in the place the manager told me. She wouldn't lie to me, so I fully trusted her. Well, I come back after 9 hours at work (I'd already had a crap day) to find this! And to top it all off, I rang the manager on her private number, and she said she checked it at 3.30 when she left and there was no problem.

The second shift started at 3.30, and I picked the car up at 5.30, so sometime in that two hours some anal wart with a white car has backed into my car, and driven off without so much as a note. And the second shift person didn't see anything. Although the manager says it's not possible for nothing to be seen from the booth.

Carpark manager has said if she can find out who it is (which is sorta likely) she'll ban them from the place. But if she tells me who they are, there won't be anything left for her to ban. NOT ****ING HAPPY!

In all seriousness, I had me rear bar resprayed for less than that! And to top it all off, the plastic sticker material is peeling off the number plate where the surround was cracked and dragged across it, so I probably hafta replace that shortly as well.

clean ride man, i like the gold rims contrasting the red of the car, lower it and youll be good to go....how is that neuspeed strut bar??? is it worth the $$$???

Neuspeed I thought was definatly one of the better mods. Put it this way: Going from a stock car to one with an ebay strut brace, then getting in mine (none of us have sussy mods, only the braces) I can definatly notice a difference. But like I say, if it really needed one it would've had it from the factory. But then again, the Type S had one...

Better book that ticket then E, since my next mod won't be lowering it...the next mod is in a box on the way as we speak, and it's not suspension stuff. However after the fitment of that, the next mod will definatly be slammage. That gap is just too much, and the suspension is just too soft atm. I scraped running over a train track because I did it too fast, not cause I'm too low! I'm aiming for early next year. As early as possible.

But now I know why they took over three months to get here - the newspaper that was wrapping them was the LA Times, dated Sunday 3 February 2008!

One suggestion: you've got to paint your calipers man. I've painted mine silver, but that's with silver wheels and Phoenix red of course...

Brash22
04-14-2008, 10:38 PM
It's on my to do list B. When I finish mucking around with headlights it will be the next thing I do.

I put that second set of lights last month, but I'm still not 100% happy with my driver's side headlight, so I'm sanding and polishing until I am. Problem being that I don't seem to be getting anywere. Maybe more research is in order.

Brake calipers will probably go silver, along the lines of the late model Accord Euro/TSX etc. I like the idea of bright red, but not for stock calipers, only if I ever get around to doing that upgrade that I've planned.

I love the body kit(mostly the front and rear valance), read bumper, electronic hvac controls, and the 3 star steering wheel. I hate that Honda didn't change the position of the E-brake to the other side when bringing over to that states, the fact that its on the other side of the center console makes no sense but DOES in your car.

Also you have taken some awesome pics, i like to Honda dealership pic w/ your Prelude in the reflection...so well done, Cheers

Brash22
05-17-2008, 07:55 PM
The problem will be shipping the airbag over, since its classified as an explosive. I can probably get a decent condition tiller for reasonably cheap money for you, but shipping the airbag over will probably rape you.

But having said that, I'll investigate it. I'll let you know.

Raggy's right, it's the throttle cable. It comes out teh firewall, up over the intake, across the top of the VC then turns 180 degrees and goes to the TB.

Well it used to; I decided it looks ugly, and re-routed it under the IM.

And I'm curious, Colin and Raggy, which way do your windshield wipers rotate to?
Ours turn to the left.

Starts on the left and curves up towards the right. The vertical is on the driver's side of the window

yeah! good question E. and how does the water rotate in your toilets? lol

In the toilet it doesn't really rotate, just goes straight down. The plumbers I know say it's got something to do with the different design of the S bend out the back of it.

Thanks guys. These are the last photos of her looking like that, she's about to undergo a small transformation. Unfortunatly a lot smaller than I'd like, but still. Quite simply:
-17s are for sale. I've ordered and payed for the rims I wanted in the originally
-Brake calipers will be painted shortly
-Replace drivers side headlight
-Something else
-Hopefully touch up the nicks and scratches that annoy the hell outta me.

1: How is the auto treating you cause I think mine is too slow; 2: What does the subs sound like? I got 2 twelves but no trunk; 3: Even though I grew up with RHD's seeing yours seems so weird. I'm loving your interior and lip kit, I think you should donate it to my cause lol. Overall, freakin nice ride man, don't be supprised if i steal some of your ideas.

those rims are too sexy... that should be illegal.

edit... noticed they are for sale... I'm 4th gen and 4 lug.. not to mention shipping... :) ... otherwise, you'd have a taker.

will they fit an 03 corolla s? haha (my wife's car)

1. Auto is holding up well. Aside from the moonshine gear ratios, no problems. But you're right, a lot slower than all the figures would suggest...damn high first gear!
2. The three 8s sound incredible. They struggle a little right down the bottom of the range (like 45Hz and lower) but everywhere else is fine. And the best thing is that they turn around so quick. They have no problems pounding out a 200bmp trance track, and you hear (and feel!) every bass hit.
3. No, I'm not donating my hard earned to your cause, because my cause isn't finished with it. Feel free to take whatever ideas you want, it's not like I invented anything there.

Car looks good Brash.. I have 18's with a 40 offset and i had to get some stabilizers for the rear springs to lift it up a little so the rims won't rub anymore.. It sucks cause the wheelgap is nasty lookin but i get to keep the rims so i'm not complaining..

Alright I will make a new thread today and have pics up.. The guy told me that the springs would settle and that the wheel gap would come down some.. But its the only solution besides selling my brand new rims.. haha

I was planning on skipping this section of the development, since it'll change again so quickly, but stuff it, there's some good photos of it.

For those who haven't picked it, the gold 17s have been sold, and replaced with a set of DC5R 16s, wrapped in yummy Bridgestone Potenza AR001 rubber.

So with the car off the road for a little while, I see it as a perfect opportunity to finish her off. Suspension componants will be ordered as soon as reasonable, along with a few other things finished off.

Well, with the car booked into the crash shop, that's some progress so I thought I'd update this.

As most of you know, I was involved in a little incident at the Marysville Cruise over in Vic. Now, for the first time ever, I'm publicly posting the pics of my car after the incident.

http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc337/Brash_new/IMG_7834.jpg

A little anti-climatic isn't it? Mainly cosmetic, bumper, garnish, numper plate, etc. But anyway, the car has gone into the crash shop, and will be coming out soon, finally with that Mugenesk spoiler that I've had for the last couple of years. But until then, the car has been stripped out. All of everything has been taken out of the inside, and as a result is littered all around the house.

I'm guessing two weeks. That way when it only takes one and a bit I'll be happy.

damn colin thats a friggin shame....how did u manage to crash it??

On the cruise somebody locked the brakes on the wet road and didn't stop in time. Oh well, they copped most of the damage.

Long story short, we weren't even going fast. We were following some wanker in a late model Camry (not even on the cruise), who then stopped for no apparant reason. The first four cars managed to stop safely, the car in front of me (fourth gen) nudged the car in front of him, smashing the glass headlight. I pulled up with plenty of space in front, then the JDM fourth gen following me locked up and that was that.

Mugen replica?

When do you plan to clear out the tail lights? That'd transform the back. As simple as it is, that's my favorite mod I've done to my car.

Twin tip Magnaflow has been sitting on the floor of my parent's garage (next to the spoiler) for over two years. Why I waited so long to install them is beyond me, I absolutly love them!

Mugen replica spoiler it is...and it uses the OEM spoiler bolt holes. BB6 front tag I've had for ages ($10 off ebay two or three years ago) and the window things have been on since Feb.

Clearing out the tail lights will happen, probably when I get around to detailing the calipers. Both are on the to-do list.

Thanks mate. Decal will go on the front windeshield in the corner next to the other sticker so plenty of room.

I've seen a genuine one, and aside from the lack of an LED brake light, there's only one other imperfection, and I found that because I was looking for one.

Nah, no lip on the rims, just some clever masking before paint. I'm trying to decide whether or not to keep the silver rim when they get painted properly, since the current shade was something sprayed on the night before we left on a big road trip.

I'm still trying to decide whether or not I will. Sometimes I love it, and others I think it looks crap. And sometimes I miss the 17s. To be honest I will be a little saddened when I drop the thing and realise that I never saw it dropped over them. But then again, I have a habit of changing the wheels every time I need new tyres, so who knows what the future holds?

it's funny you mention the 17s. when i switched from the 17s to the 16" blades i really wondere whether or not i wanna big rims. i think i may get a set of 02-03 rsx type s rims as well. i'll prob have them painted somewhere between gunmetal and silver to coincide w/ the body and carbon fiber hood.

Brash22
10-27-2008, 02:16 AM
As far as looks are concerned, a set of 18" Advan RGs would do me nicely. And they're probably just as light as the Type R 16s. But you're right, with the 16s on there, I almost don't want to go bigger again. In fact, at some angles it also looks like I don't want to lower it at all, though having said that I know that at 90% of viewing angles the car does need at least a 1.5" drop.

98BB6SH
10-27-2008, 02:23 AM
yeah i have a 1.5" drop and i loved the way the car looked w/ the 16's on em. i have a guy in the bronx who totaled his 03 RSX and will give me his rims for $220. i might do it just for the hell of it... something to play around with. but i'd love some 18" Work Emotions. fell in love w/ them on Laura's lude.

what made you switch rims in the first place?

Brash22
10-27-2008, 04:31 PM
You want the truth? (Well obviously, or else you wouldn't have asked I suppose)

I saw these come up for sale, rediculously cheap due to some minor kerb rash. So I made a cheeky offer, had them shipped to my work's office where they sat under my desk for 6 weeks while I sold the 17s, then I spent a couple of hours following E's rim revival thread.

Si Speed
10-27-2008, 05:09 PM
How much (in USD) did you get the rims for?

Brash22
10-27-2008, 09:03 PM
They cost me AU$300 landed at my door, so on the current exchange rate, a bit under US$200. Spend another few bucks on tyres and they were on.

March they arrived. I payed for them in September last year. I was a little apprehensive before I fitted them, but now I just absolutely love them. And for someone who drives with the windows down as much as I do, they're a fantastic thing.
