I need to change my tweeters in my 1992 Lude. Does anyone know what are the best tweeters to use and does naybidy have any DIY instructions to install them?

my suggestion is get a good set of component speakers (woofer and tweeter seperate)
alpine/kicker/rockford are all good
apline have excellent sound quality, kicker have great punch
in terms of installing them, the hardest part is getting the tweeter cover off
once you have that, one screw holds the stock one in place, take it off and then one simple cord to unplug, and the new tweeter should plug right in and screw back on
done

Thanks. For some reason Crutchfield is telling me that I may have to do some drilling and re-wiring. What size are the stock tweeters?

I have the exact same question. I need to replace the tweeters (and the rest of the speakers) on my 92 Lude, but I can't find what size they are. I went to crutchfield, but it said that the size doesn't match to anything they have in stock and won't tell me what size it thinks it is. I'll bet that they just don't have the data... does anyone here know?

Well, I wound up getting some CDT Components. Hopefully the tweeter will fit properly...

Does anyone have any good ideas about where to run the wires or put the crossover? It doesn't look like it should be too difficult but I'll take any help I can get

If the tweeter doesnt fit in the normal spot, you could just drill a hole on the front of the tweeter cover and have the tweeters face the rear of the car instead of the sides. Its custom, looks cool, and solves the size problem

1" tweeters fit fine... and all you really need is some really strong double back tape (with adheasive on both sides for you that don't know anything about this kind of thing) no drilling, you may have to do some splicing (depends on what you get), and you're all set and ready to rock!
